Well I'm sure y'all will be surprised to hear that I grew up in Kansas on squirrel, rabbit, fish, pheasant, quail, and tons of dove breast. If my brother hadn't been a successful hunter/fisherman, we wouldn't have had meat on the table. I hated it tho, cause I love all animals too. I won't ever order it in a restaurant.

I don't know about "solid white" (I'm guessing it was photoshopped off a Tuna can) but some of us do like eating squirrel...(S)he don't look to white to me...

Oh, roof rats? Tough, lean meat best left left in the crock pot overnight. Tastes like Peter Cotton Tail.

I brake for squirrels, too. Also, other animals. Sometimes I get out of the car and help a turtle finish crossing the road.

I was just talking about that to a friend.
Here in north Florida we have the gophers. When it is mating season they are all over the place. I have stopped so many times to guide and make sure they get to a safe place.
But the one I was talking about is the pig nosed turtle. They are so adorable. I spotted one completely lost and about to cross a very busy county road. Not sure why, since those guys usually stay in the water. He was so small and low to the ground, I could see in his eyes that he couldn't even make above the grass leaf. Little less a whole car.
