Where do you stand on education in Liberal Arts?

As important as any. It really is dependent on the individual. I would not force mathematics on someone who may be more suited in social care. I wouldn't make a politician out of someone who is shows more interest in the arts - unless they show some interest in politicking, of course.

Well, you may not force trigonometry and advanced geometry but a much simpler math must be taught; a person needs to man -at least- the basic. Always amazes me that many kids....and adults...don't know how to find the 8.5% they pay on the items they buy everyday...or to multiply by the difference to find what is the price after the discount.

See, years ago I had a tooth removed and the dentist prescribed Tylenol 3; I told her "You take it, I won't expose myself to codeine which is highly addictive." She switched medication....Few months ago -because I spent too much time at home- my vitamin D level was low. My doctor prescribed the proper medication....which I didn't take. I sent my vit. D level to normality by walking -two hrs. every day- at the local park. No, my friend, I believe is a matter of education and self respect. May I add I underwent two cancer and several eye surgeries...all painful and I didn't take any pain killer?

@icolan Sure, they take the "first dose" because they are convinced they won't become addicts. They can't afford prescribed medication? The Dept. of Social Services will help...and don't tell me I am mistaken because before becoming a teacher I was a Bilingual Social Caseworker.
