So! Awaiting the first winter storm of the season. Cut some plywood and 2x4s to size to start building the first rolling platform for my bench tools. Meanwhile..... glued up some scrap for the hyacinth vine to climb on in the bathroom/greenhouse.

This year's try to save my gardenia. Last year I put a bucket over it with a glass top and it survived but it never thrived last summer probably due to the stress of the winter. The location is on the south side of my house so I keep trying. I think...

Heathen Gardener Kvetch time! Not to sound negative(though I will), but to share an observation, I have spent a significant chunk of free time over the past couple of years watching various you tube videos on sustainability and permaculture ...

Out raking up seed pods yesterday & found this under one of our Blue Spruces. Really much smaller than anything I've previously seen in our yard.... Anyone have a guess as to the type bird??

December 4th is Saint Barbara's Day. If you cut branches from your flowering bushes on St. Barbara's Day ( forsythias; weigelias, deutzias ) and bring them into the house in a vase with water, you will have flowering branches at Christmas. Can you...

Thanksgiving day blooms in my garden. Brave giant zinnia soldiering on. I will be collecting seed from this stalwart trooper. Most of the zinnia are long gone, other than this one and some orange/gold zahara zinnia.

Oh Wow! Garden Geeks, listen up. This You tube gardening clip is one of the most inspiring gardening stories I've ever heard. If you haven't seen it already, find yourself a half hour to watch this. Even better on a large tv.
