Phooey! This proud tomato plant mom found horn worms on my plants. Looking for them and hand picking them off is kind of therapeutic.

Cephalanthus occidentalis, or Buttonbush, in bloom for the first time in almost 10 years. Got'em in 4" pots and they've seen rabbits, Japanese beetles and everything. Yet, here she is... Ready for lots of butterflies and other pollinators

Continuing to "flower" my new nest, we bought 2 hyacinths, some vinca, and dianthus. We had some skippers enjoying the salvia that we got just yesterday. I have not got the knack of adding photos, any ideas?

My brother made me these tomato cages. They work a lot better when the growing season lasts until end of Nov. The cages are 6 ft tall. As an indeterminate variety, these will grow all season.

Currently 90° with a heat index of 95°. I'm relaxing on the verandah with a glass of Chardonnay. The heat brings out numerous wonderful creatures. I think this is an Admiral. Maybe @leafhead can confirm:

Found on my mid-day walk today. Part of a small wildflower patch my town planted near a lake in my neighborhood. Nearly 100 degrees, dry and they're thriving.
