I wonder how many screws are in it and which direction they are set in?...drywall screws are fairly cheap for a project like this....

Again with the dots?
Anyway, dry wall screws are used with (say 'duh' with me) dry wall. I can't see them making the device out of dry wall. One does not make motorized devices out of dry wall. Mechanical screws, definitely; sheet metal screws, maybe. Somebody might try glue.
@WonderWartHog99 Drywall screws are more fun if you bother to think about it....
@Lizard_of_Ahaz I used to be a landlord. I've thought about of dry wall screws too much.
@WonderWartHog99 Sharp little bastards aren't they?...
@Lizard_of_Ahaz Dry wall anchor screws require pre-drilling. Therefore they don't have to be sharp.
The big deal with dry wall anchor screws is once they are in the hole, as they are turned in the dry wall, the screw spreads out thus giving the screw a greater purchase on the inside of the wall. Dry wall is too fragile to hold on to a regular nail or pointy head wood screw. A whole lot of thinking went into the design of dry wall anchor screw.
The major deal with dry wall is compared to wood paneling, it's easier to repair. If you're throwing in renters who COULD tear the place apart, get dry wall construction.
@WonderWartHog99 I wasn't talking about those... Nor was I talking about the ones for metal studs.... I was talking about the ones that would end up going through the shoe and all the way to the bone if you stomped on one....
@Lizard_of_Ahaz Dry wall has metal studs?
@WonderWartHog99 Lots of buildings since the 1990s have been built with metal studs. They use sheet metal drill point drywall screws in those.
@Lizard_of_Ahaz In construction, studs mean the weight bearing part of the structure. Sheet metal on the other hand, means a THIN, non-weight bearing part of the structure. There are no such things as sheet metal studs.
I have used carbon steel screws to go into metal studs on a cargo truck. It seemed like about 20 minutes per screw. It might have been shorter but I was putting some serious pressure to get those screws in. After a point it was a question if I'd survive the job. I should have bought one of those drills motors.
The thing to look out for is roofing nails -- the ones used to attach shingles. They always land with the pointy end up. They will get through your boot.
@WonderWartHog99 I suggest you look at a metal stud....

@Lizard_of_Ahaz Doesn't look like it's a load bearing stud. It looks rather thin.
@WonderWartHog99 Those studs are commonly used in the construction of walls both load bearing and non-load bearing.... They are used in place of wood studs and are actually stronger and better especially in an area with higher seismic activity.
@Lizard_of_Ahaz We've drifted far afield of the plague drone wouldn't be made out of dry wall and therefore would not require dry wall screws.
That's wonderful.. I bet those protesters won't recognize it though
