@AnneWimsey Of course one may like what they wish unless it's illegal I suppose. I'd like to see Christian fed lions make a come back. Kidding! Its was described when CTE was diagnosed that each collision is like an auto crash. Being hit by those defensive line backers weighing in at 300+ lbs is definitely brain shaking. The game is great & as an owner of the Packers, I used to enjoy the comradery at the male dominated places I have been employed. Now that I am free from that environment, the info from science, the severe pay inequity in the sport, the impotent union....not so much. Enjoy the carnage.
It's OK to "not care" about the Super Bowl....It's just fun, and exciting to watch those men go through such physical challenges to play against each other.
I don't follow the season....and don't have local favorites...
But to me - it's so exciting to watch those players go through their athleticism to perform their tasks...
I don't follow baseball.
I don't follow basketball.
I rarely watch Soccer...even though I coached it a few years.
But I love the Super Bowl.
I'd like to see the top teams have a two out of three playoff.
I think it would fill stadiums.
The whole pugilistic urges in men must be channeled for the benefit of humanity. It is testosterone driven & manifested in rituals whereby we avoid actual combat with our fellow Earthly humans. The ones who suffer most are children who can not get out of the way. So if people wish to aid in spreading CTE & watching it happen, 'tis better than the alternative. Bash each other legally with guard rails or bash each other in the streets with anarchy.
I Love football....once you understand the intricacies, it is fascinating!
Nice pic. I could not give a rat's ass about a Super Bowl or men hitting a ball with a stick.
I actually had to perform a quickie elopement wedding for a couple just as the game was getting close to the end. To allow the groom to see as much of the game as possible, we decided to perform the ceremony and signing portion of the event on the lanai of their hotel room.
When I knocked on the door, the groom answered as the bride clicked off the TV. I apologized for interrupting the game, and the groom correctly replied that "this is more important" and I said "good answer!" Then I remarked that I don't follow football and jokingly asked "What inning is it?" Haha! The groom was 80 and the bride was 72.
After the the quickie ceremony, we went down to the grounds of the beautiful resort and took some photos of them. Not a lot of people walking around - but lots were at the bar watching the game. I bet the resort bar sold a lot of liquor yesterday!
I don't care about football either. It's a symptom of growing up in Cleveland. But what I do care about is free money. Sports betting just became legal in Ohio and the sportsbooks all have out hundreds of dollars of free bets. I used them to bet against myself so I was guaranteed to win at least one of the two. Did it for my mom, too. A lot of the bets were placed on the Super Bowl, so we watched for that and the commercials. We're up like $450 so far and we still have a couple hundred dollars in free bets to place still!
NPR did a segment saying those companies are millions in the red because of those promotions and other overhead. They're hoping people like you keep betting, and that online casinos become legal.
@CallMeDave Not this guy! I saw free money and I snatched it up. They will though. People love gambling and get addicted so easily. I actually had two separate buddies say they wouldn't even download and set it up to get the free $200-300 of cash because they were afraid they'd get addicted.
I could care less about football too. In fact just about every professional sport. Adults playing games they learned as a child making millions.
At least those things take skill... There are internet personalities that have no value whatsoever in this world other than even dumber people like to watch the idiotic shit they do that have become insanely rich.
@ChestRockfield I'm not going to disagree with you. The Kardashian series is a prime example of your perspective. I do enjoy many bitchute, rumble and YouTube videos though, who have interesting, thought provoking talk show host and guest.
@Mickey Well, I won't disagree with you either. We should rid ourselves of some fun and games and focus our money and attention on preserving an inhabitable world. But that won't happen. But as it stands, it's hard to fault someone like LeBron for becoming a billionaire by being the only person in the world that was able to do his job as well as he did.
