one of this is keep circulating around my back patio , and , he even brought his cousins and in laws today .
And I don't like a bit the ways he stares at me or the ways he looks at my Diego boy ( tiny tea cup chi ).
Yes I even googled it , can a crow harm a tiny dog ??
I am plotting murder here , what do u know people , are crows really dangerous for tiny dogs ?
For now , I keep staring back at him and my feathers are fluffed as well . I don't like him . At all !
Should I go to store and get one of this hideous figures for yards that keep big birds away ? Where the hell is a life size trump statue when u need it .
Trust me if you get a tRumpo scarecrow the crow will die laughing and your little lap muffin will shit all over you in fright.
Both crows and ravens are very intelligent and have excellent memories. If you begin to aggressively chase them away every time you see them they should get the message and stop coming....this assumes there is no strong reason compelling them to return, such as trash or compost/food scraps that's attracting them in the first place.
No trash outside at all . Today same guy returned . And he brought a skinnier friend . I have an outdoor table fireplace on patio and he sat there w his friend for an eternity . And I stood there , the other side of the glass door watching them . Dogs will go outside only w me for now until further assessment of potential danger . I am not happy !
@Pralina1, wow! There are a variety if bird repellents or deterrents out there and they all work to some extent, but the smarter birds like crows, ravens and magpies always figure them out pretty quickly. There's a reflective tape they sell that you hang here and there and moves with any breeze, old cds will do it too the movement and flashing with the light startles them and makes them uncomfortable to just hang around. There's also a caulk like product "Tanglefoot"....you apply it in a bead, like caulk, wherever they like to land...it's sticky and stays that way so they won't land there anymore, doesn't hurt them just not pleasant for them.....but it's sticky for you too, so only works in certain places. The fake owls they sell work only for a short time. They figure out pretty quickly it's not real.
@Pralina1, you're welcome Arborist, orchardist, landscaper...sometimes comes with the territory. Make them uncomfortable. They have routes, stops and routines. For whatever reason you've become a stop. Make them uncomfortable. Chase them away every time they appear. Might take a bit of time, but they should stop coming.
A few of these in the garden should scare them off;
I'd chip in for that statue, IF you promised to send me pics of when it had bird shit on it.
Additional thought: Would an oscillating water sprinkler be a feasible option to keep the birds away? I don't know what's on your back porch, but if it wouldn't hurt anything, could be an option.
I'm not really a bird fan, but I don't want to kill them either, if possible.
Although, if they attacked my dog, I'd be out there with an uzi.
I am at lost here K . I am thinking from now one I will not let Diego out alone without me . Not even for pee . I will get a fake owl or something in the morning . My other baby , he can bark and bring the dead back to life , and he is the terror of our lake and grounds here . Yet these crows or whatever the f are , weren't scared of him a bit today . !
Be good to them
If he picks on Diego = dead crow . I ll go to store and find something to put out here . Fair warning . !
, @Count_Viceroy are we serious ?? That's not good ! They hate me already , I can tell u that !!
@Pralina1 maybe there's a reason they hate you
@Count_Viceroy I guess .
@Pralina1 just give them love
If it is really large, it is probably a raven, they prefer their chi chis as road kill, so Mr. Diego is probably safe. Although in gypsy mythology they are harbingers of things to come. They are known more for being theives of others kills than being actual predators unless you're a baby bird.
He is fat and big mouth and all Mr Glenn. He is twice the size of Mr Diego . I have about 10 green apples in the house . I am thinking starting the war . HE IS STILL OUT THERE , sitting on fence looking at inside of house .
I am gonna send u a pic .
About ravens, their tail feathers, when not spread, are rounded like an arc. Crow's tail feathers look cropped straight across.
