I found some ova in cold storage that I forgot I collected last year! Egg rings, on scrub oak, from the buck moth (Hemileuca maia) collected in September of 2017 and likely due to hatch later this month. And walkingstick (Diapheromera femorata) ...

This probably doesn't look that impressive to anybody outside of the UK, but trust me, around these parts this is a massive spider (Eratigena atrica I believe). Can of Monster for reference.

Imperials! Have TWO Imperial Moths (Eacles imperialis) on my front door today. We've seen more of these, Polyphemus, and Luna Moths this year than prior years! I love living where I do, AWAY from pesticides that reduce insect numbers...

Mystery egg development continues! I tried zooming in this time so the picture quality isn't the best, but you can see something is definitely going on in there.

Just a praying mantis we found on our we to feed the ducks. First brown one I've seen in ages, usually only find the green ones. On a side note, I am going to start referring to them as a preying mantis.

Good Morning Critter Lovers! Say Hello to George :) I first saw him a few weeks ago relaxing on a sewer slab. Yesterday I finally got a full view of him, he looks about a 5-6 footer. It never gets old for me to see these guys!

I just moved from Montana to Texas, so I have been seeing all sorts of critters that are new to me! One of my favorites is this monster fishing spider! It's about 2". They don't make spiders this big in Montana!

Daughter holding Vipera ammodytes, very tame, but even the snake can mistake a finger for a mouse if we are not careful. Niece with a corn snake

A cute grey treefrog (Hyla versicolor) that I found in my birch tree, this afternoon. His camouflage was great and I only discovered him when I heard him calling.

My first Monarch since moving here! I started a butterfly garden two years ago, specifically targeting monarchs and swallowtails. Got this lone caterpillar on native swamp milkweed that I’ve fought hard to keep going (is a tremendous aphid magnet).

I was spraying reptile tanks tonight and noticed Xena had a stuck on eye cap from her last shed. Of course that had to be taken care of. We hung out for awhile.
