My friends when I have some peanuts or sunflower seeds

Reminders of warmer weather. The robin is easy to identify, I think the other is a sparrow, but I tend to call all small brown birds sparrows . . .

LINKBluebirds aren't really blue. They just look that way to us.

Duck surgery. This young Mallard is thought to have been injured by a snapping turtle. One of the vets I work with volunteered to remove the dead toe and clean up the necrotic tissue and the duck is doing great at a local rehab facility.

For the past several years I have had a pair of tree swallows nesting in a bluebird box on the edge of a field. I don't know if it's the same pair year after year, but I sure enjoy seeing them.

I saw this Black crowned night heron while fishing a sream on Oahu.

Not a frequent visitor to the feeders but always a treat when they do come.

Riding around today, I saw a killdeer hunting insects in the local soccer field. I pulled in to photograph "him" and I discovered the mate. If "she" hadn't stood up I probably would have walked right by her and never noticed! She is incubating 4 ...
