An idiot walks into a police department looking for a job. The captain says they can’t just turn her away, and orders a desk officer to ask her a few questions as if doing an interview. The officer says, Who killed Abraham Lincoln?” “I don’t know,” she admits. “Well, you can go home and think about it,” he says, “and come back later and tell me what you’ve figured out.” He figures that’s the last he’ll see of her. The idiot goes home and calls up one of her friends, who asks her if she got the job. “Not only did I get the job,” she says, “but I’ve already been assigned to a murder case!

G'day @273kelvin. I always remember the author of a business motivational book extolling Lincoln as the epitome of success in that it took him many attempts to be elected and then rise to be president. It is many years since I read the book and do not recollect the author. I do recall my thought at the time " how can he be the epitome of success? Some assassin came up and shot him - now that is the ultimate in failure - you are brown bread!"
@FrayedBear Most political careers end in failure. Legends are nearly always dead. It is not the death that ensures this but often the manor of death. Paul is by far a better songwriter than John Lennon was (his songs are covered more) but John got shot and... A classic case is Isadora Duncan, Strangled by her own scarf as it wrapped around the wheel of a Bugatti in the south of France
