Beowulfsfriend replies on Sep 25, 2019:
A few of us aren't evil. My three kids are part Native American from their mom - at the right angle they appear Asian. None would put that down on college admissions because, and they said, they grew up with white privilege. Lower middle class white privilege, and a private school education due to scholarships and a good headmaster at the time.
I suffer from this everyday.

@Metahuman here is a quicky https://scinapse.io/papers/2180773430. It is an ongoing argument as to whether or not recognition of self is actual self-awareness. I just grabbed a quick, yes there are studies. It is definitely being argued over - much as animal linguistics continues to be.

Read in Walden about the ants and their war - they fight on a massive scale. Ants also enslave and "milk" aphids. And, oddly enough, ants are aware of themselves when they look in a mirror.

One trip out we (my ship) dropped some bodies once far enough out to sea. They used weighted body bags - at the time. I loved being on the ocean when i could just go and look at it. And in the Navy, at night it is always dark.

Beowulfsfriend replies on Sep 24, 2019:
My opinion is: vote your heart in the primary and be pragmatic in the election. Don't shoot yourself or others over your guy not winning the primary. I like Bernie and I agree he got somewhat shafted (I doubt he was beating HRC, even in a fair fight). The guy I wanted isn't running, so, and I have time, I'll make my support decision later. But, who ever wins I'll vote for.

There were at least 13 classifications with triangles or star shapes. Jews lost the most people, followed by the Roma, or gypsies. I used to go around the classroom and individual twmell students what could happen to them, simply by heritage or name - two students come to mind, one an Isaac with a Jewish sounding name who got irate and yelled he wasn't a Jew. I said, I know, but back then your name would have been enough. Another student, a young, black man, I said You're a good German, right? You love Germany, right? He enthusiastically said yes. I then said, You can live. He smiled. Then I added, We will just sterilize you. That happened a lot as well. Close to 80k black German citizens. Unknown numbers of mentally and physically handicapped were, if not euthanized, made sterile.
If all religion ended tomorrow, what do you think would happen to all the churches, etc.?
KKGator comments on Sep 22, 2019:
All of the above. It's going to depend on the church, where it's located, and just how many people they may have pissed off. I think most of the ones in strip malls should become Chinese restaurants.

BestWithoutGods comments on Sep 19, 2019:
I tried veganism, but it is very difficult to eat out as a vegan. So, I settled on vegetarianism. I also avoid sugar. The best chocolate I know of is Lily's sugar-free chocolate, sweetened with stevia. From what I've read, stevia is the healthiest sweetener there is.
Beowulfsfriend replies on Sep 19, 2019:
@OldMetalHead Stevia is just sugar from a different plant - sweeter so you need less. I never thought of it as vegan. I use it and avoid corn syrup.

Beowulfsfriend replies on Sep 14, 2019:
@powder I know the story pretty well, and yes, the lease ran out. But to what China did they sign said lease? And after so much time and growth, would not the people living there have deserved more consideration. Something happening now - some Hong Kong residents with money are trying to obtain Macao passports. Hard to do legally, as Portugal, unlike Britain, allowed all the residents of Macao to have Portugese passports. Remember that Macao got the same deal and honestly. I don't know if Portugal had a lease or not, at the moment - I'll look later out of curiosity. (They held it longer and in the 70's started to divest of colonies)

Beowulfsfriend replies on Sep 13, 2019:
True. Since the U.S. could produce enough food to feed most of the current world, overpopulation in and of itself is not the problem as far as possibly starving. Only 40 percent of U.S. crops go to feed people, the other 60 percent is for animal consumption, mostly livestock, and fuel production.

I don't think I have a problem with government facilities for homeless. Why would that be a problem?
Beowulfsfriend replies on Sep 11, 2019:
@jerry99 the point is corraling people was inhumane once, and yes, some needed it and instead of opening the flood Gates as the gov did, better conditions and healthy options should have been built. More caseworkers and care givers, etc. There is no simple solution to a complex problem. Also, be aware, a lot of homeless work. Better housing options and pay equality would be a giant step to this administration building camps that would serve as detention centers for people who committed no crime other than poverty
