SallyInStitches comments on Jun 5, 2018:
I was raised in the south when integration was a new thing & referring to someone as "colored" was considered being extremely respectful. I was not raised to literally hate people because of the color of their skin but racist words were part of the every day vernacular. As I grew older, I learned better. Saying Barr's statements were due to her "raising" is, for all intents & purposes, rubbish. She's grown, she knows or should know better but her internal racist has been set free by her embracing the current racist in cheif, President Dunning-Kruger. She is free to say whatever she pleases but absutely no one is free of the consequences of their speech. Her's were swift & devestating in the collateral damaged caused to others on her now cancelled show. Sucks to be her. She does not get a pass from me because of her "raising", "indoctrination" or any other nicety you care to use as a replacement for her choice to be a repugnant racist. She can kick rocks & sit in the unemployment line with Kathy Griffin for all I care. No excuses. & using mental illness as a crutch to prop it all up is, also, bs. She trots that out when its convenient, just like the attempt to blame Ambien. Yes, it sucks. Yes, I am constantly monitored to make sure my meds work & are still working to control my bipolar disorder. Yes, switching them up to find the right balance is a pain. Then again, I embraced the fact I'm crazy (my shrink hates that term) & I take personal responsibility to keep (pardon the colloquialsm) my shit in 1 sock & crazy damage to a minimum. Again, no sympathy & no pass from me. (Maybe my ex is right, I am too hard on people...or maybe I just set a high standard for myself & expect the same of others.)

Grief and depression
SallyInStitches comments on Jun 17, 2018:
My depression came on when my father passed & we had to go through his things. I'm the youngest of 5 & was "daddy's girl". It put me in bed with the covers over my head. If it wasn't for my kids, I'm not sure I would have made it to my doctor's office to sit on the examine table & sob out that I had no clue what was wrong with me. Meds & therapy helped, a lot but it took a long time. 14 years later, there are times where grief just sneaks up & grabs me out the blue. I'm not going to say it gets better but you learn how to live with it. Right now, take care of yourself. Do what is absolutely necessary & be willing to say no to energy sucks. Seek out therapy, a support group, talk to a medical professional.

SallyInStitches comments on Jul 16, 2018:
I raised mine to be respectful, kind & honest. To seek truth, to understand whats popular is seldom right & what is right is seldom popular or easy. To call bs when its bs, to not bully & that people are people. I taught them how to change a car tire, check their fluids, how to dribnle a badketball & how to effectively tackle in football. I taught the how to use a bait caster & how to throw a good hook to the body (follow through with your elbow). I taught them to tske pride in their work & to do it well. Your word is your bond. I taught them that reading will take you everywhere without leaving home. I was a single mom of 2 boys. All the uncomfortable conversations fell to me.

How important is marriage to you?
SallyInStitches comments on Jul 16, 2018:
About as important as having tastebuds in my rectum. I'm all for having a committed relationship, but I don't need marriage. I've worked hard for what I have, including a decent credit rating. I'd definitely want to dfo a financial analysis to determine both the benefits & the negative impacts of a legal bond. Would it be beneficial in taxes? What about income/debt ratio? What liabilities would they bring to a marriage? Would this diminish possible retirement disbursement? What about impacys on health insurance & later medicare (if it still exists). Lots to consider.
Do we make our fates or is life preordained??
SallyInStitches comments on Jul 17, 2018:
Preordination & predestination are religous constructs to pigeonhole the masses in believing they have no direct impact over their own life & what ever happens, good or ill, god did it & amyone who abuses them or is a despot, etc, has been preordained by god to test the faithful to see if they are truly subservient to god's will.

I love how xtians take an archeological find, match it to the bible & claim that as proof of biblical validation, hallelujah, god did it. Story of Sodom and Gomorrah is prime example. Find of 2 cities in close proximity that were destroyed by fallout from a volcano (fire & brimstone). Bronze age desert sheep herders/nomaidic people try to find an explanation for a natural event that appears to them supernatural. The worst thing you could do at this time & place was to deny or violate rules of hospitality. That was the only reason the gods would flatten a village. Then put King James' twist on it, a time when sodomy was an unforgivable sin for a man.....taaa-daaaa.

SallyInStitches comments on Aug 2, 2018:
There are folks who are hard wired monogamous, some of us are hard wired poly. That said, I will try to explain jealousy, or the lack thereof, in my case. Poly is not (again, in my opinion) swinging or 1 night stands. Some argue for or against this, Not debating that here. But I need to put out that, for me, poly is having an emotional investment in the people I'm with. Sex is not the primary expectation. Its more. Again, the structures of poly relationships is a thread in & of itself. For me, the emotion that I think others label as jealousy is, in fact a combination of things. Everyone has expectations of their relationship & they negotiate those expectations with their partner. When those expectations are not met, feelings of sadness, disappointment & resentment all come to the fore, naturally. Because of distance, work schedules & weekends with kids, etc, I get to see current S/O of almost 6 years every other weekend. On those days where our schedules merge & we have the same day off, we make plans weeks in advance, for that infrequent, precious day together w/nothing else going on. My S/O though, tends to forget to communicate this to his other relationship. So we had planned a day & his gf & her husband come over, I thought unexpected, for a visit (he & her husband are very old friend). My S/O had forgot about our plans because he was talking RPGs & dice campaigns. Pissed does not begin to describe what I felt. Resentment of our time being intruded upon, then anger & hurt that S/O had forgotten our plans (forget that he had been filling in 12 hour overnight shifts for a coworker who had been out on emergency medical leave) & disrespect that he took for granted I chose to spend a day off with him when I could have been doing other things. I reminded him of why I was there, the fact that we had repeatedly had issues with scheduling & we needed to talk right then. Communication is key in poly relationships as is honesty. If we are not open & honest, with everyone involved, miscommunication causes additional hurt & upheaval. We worked it out & had a good day. Yes, he got it. Yes, we have, in partnership with his girlfriend, have a shared calendar so everyone is in the know & we can avoid issues in the future. I'm friends with his girlfriend & her husband. There is a guy I have started dating in the last few months. Yes, he is aware I'm poly. Yes, he has met my S/O. Nothing is hidden.sure he gas lots of questions & I answer them without hestitation. We'll see where that goes.

When dating someone new when should one reveal they have odd sexual proclivities?
SallyInStitches comments on Aug 4, 2018:
I have started dating someone in the last 4 months. We gave been aquainted for several years, having the same circle of friends but recently, things came together for us. I had to ro decide if I really liked him, not just as a passing aquaintance but as someone who is going to be around for a long time (yeah, really like him.) We are at that stage of "what so you like? Would you like to...?" He knows I enjoy BDSM & I'm a Top. I know he has little experience & what that was not very fun since the Top did everyrhing he hated. So, yeah. Lots of conversation, "show & tell" & exploring. Actually is a lot of fun even if the teaining wheels are still on.
So, ever since my divorce, I have only wanted sex.
SallyInStitches comments on Aug 6, 2018:
So are these actual friends that you talk to, go out with, do stuff with & have sex with on occasion or do they just come over for Netflix & chill (sex)?
First post here.. Just came random question. When someone sneezed do you say God bless you?
SallyInStitches comments on Aug 6, 2018:
I usually say "bless you". I don't edit 'god speak' from my vocabulary since its part of the common vernacular & doesn't peg one as a christian. In exasperation, I also say, 'jumped up Jesus on a fucking pogo stick'. That pretty much pegs me as a heathen & a blasphemer.
Curious if there are any thoughtful, ethically non-monogamous people on here?
SallyInStitches comments on Aug 7, 2018:
I'm hard wired poly. In the depth of religious dedication & commitment. monogamy was such a foreign concept. I didn't understand the whole idea to being dedicated to a single person, body & soul, for all eternity. I kept thinking these people love each other but sex isn't love & love isn't sex.... I've had people go off on me for being poly. I confirm they are in a monogamous relationship, dedicated to their partner & then I ask, "so, if, gawd forbid, your partner could never perform another sexual act, at all, would you stay?" These people look pole axed. So far, only 1 person, after a ton of consideration, gave a halting yes. Everyone else wanted to argue those things dont happen. Then I explain I know I cant be the end all be all, no one can. If my partner wants certain things I have no interest in, why should he not get that from someone else. I mean, I have no intention of jumping out of a perfectly good plane but he wants to. & so does another friend. They can go right on ahead. (Good luck with that.) I'll be on the ground to welcome him back to terra firma & he can tell me all about it. Feel the same way about sex.
Nope. Maybe this one will.

Free will....wait....mankind created god(s) in our own, human imagine with our own human faults & foibles because we needed a way to explain natural phenomena that was, at the time, beyond our understanding & it was scary. We kept god(s) around because humankind is inherently weak & needs a reason/excuse/scapegoat for when we fuck up (the devil made me do it) instead of taking accountability. The powers that be saw religion was an excellent control mechanism for the unwashed masses & made it a cultural pillar to keep them chained in obedience & threstened with loss of heaven. Hopefully, those chains are weakening.

SallyInStitches comments on Feb 27, 2018:
Work is work & my personal relationship doesn't impact my productivity. My career reputation & work ethic are very important to me & if the person I'm with tries to interfere with that, then they don't understand me or have a concept of my idea of real life bills, mortgages or obligation & responsibilty. I've pretty much made my way on my own most of my adult life & have worked hard for what I have. I don't date men for their wallets or what they can offer monetarily so they shouldn't expect me to shirk work for them.

My ex was trying to be intentionally hurtful (it was at the bitter end). He was basically saying I could do no better than him. That I was "past being prime" & anyone who said different was lying just to get sex. "I remember you in your prime. You could melt concrete. You can't do that anymore. You aren't prime. You're past it." In that relationship 17 years, it took me less than 6 days to move & I didn't take time off from work to do it. Within 10 months of my leaving, he had lost everything. Karma is a bitch & sometimes you do get a front row seat to see come uppance.

SallyInStitches comments on Mar 11, 2018:
I tell guys I don't date guys who drink, & make it clear I'm not interested in being around alcohol or consuming it. 1 guy said great, he was a "former alcoholic" (red flag) & didn't drink. We go out to dinner & he has his 3rd highball delivered with his entree. When I said "I though you don't drink" the response was, "not like I used to". I'm up front that I have limited free time & will make time for him but I need to plan things in advance...3 days minimum. (I have an old dog, I raise chickens & my commute to work is an hour 1 way...planning.) so his response, "yeah thats great" then "hey, its the middle of the week & I know you have to be up at 5am but there is salsa dancing tonight beginning at 9pm, I thought we could go. You can go home, do your stuff, then drive an hour back.. . " no consideration. The latest guy thought it would be fun to see how far he could push me with a lot of passive aggressive comments, totally ignoring what I said about a night out & then had to make snarky comments about how I eat (I have food allergies). And everyone wonders why I set up meet-n-greets at bookstores with coffee shops. If he doesn't show, its still a good night out.
I have been sort of estranged from my family for a while.
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 12, 2018:
I never "came out" & make it very clear that my beliefs & my "relationship with god" (insert sigh & eye roll) are my own & no one else's business. When asked why I don't attend church, I say "sorry, I was busy practicing witchcraft & becoming a lesbian" then laugh at their shocked expression & say, "not really, I just choose not to be like the pharisees & sadducees" & keep it moving. Try to get an itinerary & skip the service (had to see a man about a dog) & show up for the food. Be sure to have a list of topics to switch to when bible stuff comes up...like, "speaking of Jesus, when do you think the christian congressfolk in DC are going to start taking care of the poor, like jesus did? Think they will pass those christian bills to provide free healthcare to the sick & needy, like jesus did? Think they will at least take care of the little children? Pretty sure jesus didnt mean for the nation to neglect kids till they died as a way to let the come unto" Jesus." (Or maybe not. I'm not invited to family things anymore so my sarcastically honest ass is not the best example.)
Are You Dominant Or Submissive?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 16, 2018:
Sexually, I am a natural switch. I'm not hardwired either way. That said , I do not submit to anyone I do not know & trust completely & I am not a trusting person. Outside of the bedroom, I tend not to think of behavior in terms of dominant or submissive but acting out of respect, deference or social contract based on position, age &/or situation.
Have you ever been attracted to someone who you're not normally attracted to?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 27, 2018:
Yes. They were funny & kind, highly intelligent & very attractive. It definitely went somewhere.
Does cutting roses make a rose bush produce more?
SallyInStitches comments on Mar 29, 2018:
If its a rambler rose, it should not be cut back hard. It does need support to run on, like a fence or trellis. If its a bush type, they should ve pruned in the fall.
You give an inch .

SallyInStitches comments on Apr 20, 2018:
All of my pets (2 cats, 1 dog), including 17 chickens, are rescues. At 1 pointed i had rescued 3 goats & 18 ducks (all rehomed). Its been interesting.
Should I give to Goodwill?
SallyInStitches comments on Apr 22, 2018:
If you have dress clothes, see if there is a local organization that serves the homeless/destitute in locating jobs & housing. They need dress clothes for jobs/interviews. They may also need casual clothes as well. No harm in asking. Keep in mind a lot of organizations have religious ties but many are doing good work that secular organizations are not able or willing to do.
I just have to share this email that I received from a coworker.
SallyInStitches comments on Apr 23, 2018:
If this was sent on company email, you need to contact HR & report this. At best, this is creating a hostile work environment. At worst, this is discriminatory & encouraging discriminatory behavior. Emails sent from/recieved on work emails have to be held in archives. If this is reported & no action is taken, the company can also be held liable.
If you were in a witness protection program, what would be your new name and where would you go?

Hellen Baech. Ireland.
Given all we know about the two, which person is the worst? Pence or Trump?
SallyInStitches comments on Apr 29, 2018:
Pence is the wolf in sheep's clothing wrapped in a flag & carrying a bible. 45 thinks something & it falls out his mouth all while suffering from Dunning Kruger Effect.

SallyInStitches comments on May 2, 2018:
Yup. Normally I do not wear make up other than a touch of mascara. I had court (for work) & put on a lip color too. Someone commented about my make up &, "well you know..its kinda like putting new paint on an old whore house...uh...I mean haunted house...Fruedian slip." My coworker was shocked. I laughed at least.
If you have ever been the black sheep of your lot in life and family.
SallyInStitches comments on May 6, 2018:
Black sheep is about the tamest thing I've been called. Usually I come back with "better shot for a goat than a sheep." I've also been told I'm too smart for my own good. Be nice if my bank account reflected that.
What's your worst habbit?
SallyInStitches comments on May 7, 2018:
I have active bitch face. I cannot hide what I'm thinking.
This question is for the fit members of this site. What do you do when you get injured?
SallyInStitches comments on May 12, 2018:
I tweaked my knee pretty badly hauling 50lb bags of feed from the truck to the shed last year. That meant I had to change my work out & the way I ate to avoid putting back on weight I'd worked hard to lose. I hate a stationary bike. Its a torture device that wears on your ass & takes you nowhere. But that was what I was stuck doing for cardio for 6 very long weeks. I could not really work out my lower body weight wise so I took a lot of yoga & floor pilates classes. I started following the old saw about eating like a king at breakfast, a prince at lunch & a pauper at dinner, having the bulk of my calories before 1pm, the soup & simple salad for dinner. Once my knee was healed, I've made a point to do a lot of leg strengthening, weight bearing exercises to make sure the muscles are supporting the joint better so I don't have a relapse. I did have to have a surgery for something else but fortunately it didn't derail the bulk of my workout but it did force me to do much lighter workouts for 2 weeks.
Any childfree atheists out there?
