Monarch enjoying my favorite Phlox. This particular species or cultivar has small flowers in dense, compact heads and is irresistible to a great many butterflies large and small. Skippers and Swallowtail enjoy it most, as does the Monarch :)

From a few years ago... I'm so delighted to see these critters doing well where I live, here in southern Oklahoma. Anyway, I was lucky enough to catch these two doing the deed! If you look closely, you'll see that the male is biting his mate's horn! ...

My latest batch of A. dubernardi are growing quickly! Two have pupated already, many more are close. This photo represents about half of my stock on scotch pine (P. silvestris)--by far, my most successful brood.

My eyes aren’t what they used to be, and limited knowledge is in the mix, too. Are these babies hanging on? Parasites?

Some of the cool insects that showed up last night. It was 70°F and very humid at 11pm--a great combination. These are: a huge species of cranefly, a male luna, a dotted prominent, Abbott's sphinx (which has very cool caterpillars!), and a ...
