Why Do (So Many) American Women Still Support Patriarchy?
rogueflyer comments on Jun 16, 2019:
I didn't see any reference to the bible stating woman should submit to their husbands.
Moravian replies on Jun 16, 2019:
@rogueflyer Make your mind up . First you say there is no reference to patriarchy in the bible , which is untrue then you say you know all you need to know about the bible. Not only are the first books of the old testament interesting stories it is important to have a working knowledge of them to counteract the proselytizing of theists

"Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church". One of many passages stating women are submissive to men I think you should study the bible a bit more.

By my arithmetic that works out at 6 cents per mile which sounds like good value compared to diesel or petrol even allowing for the cheap fuel prices in the US. Of course you have to factor in the extra cost of an electric car and the possible replacement of batteries during the life of the car.

The Netherlands were one of the greatest seafaring nations and were involved in the slave trade so there would have been many African slaves around during his lifetime so I don't see why his depiction of black people is so unusual . I was speaking to a mate who has spent years in the merchant navy today and his take on the situation made sense ( to me anyway) The US spy film showed the Iranians removing an unexploded magnetic mine from a tanker. Would you do a suicidal task like this ?. I certainly wouldn't. Earlier the Iranians had rescued the crew from a tanker in the gulf and according to my friend the rope ladder from the deck to a small rescue boat far below is stabilised against the side of the boat by a magnetic clamp. Could the removal of this clamp be what the US spy film shows ? Anyway Trump is deyermined to have himself a little war to boost his ratings at home so look out.

@bbyrd009 Yes there is some debate as to whether Nazareth was populated during the time that Jesus was supposed to have lived. Joshua was the mythical leader of the Jews after the mythical Moses died at some amazingly old age so the name was commonly used and as the Jews were desperate for another saviour ( many orthodox Jews are still waiting on him) that is probably why this "saviour" was given that name. I belive the early Mohammad did preach peace and tolerance but when he was chased out of Mecca and settled in medina things seemed to change. I read of story of his life some time ago and it portrayed a sort of tribal warlord who's followers were anything but peaceful and behaved just like other tribes in the area. The crusades were long after his time.
