@Lorajay I'm in love with them; and their prices are coming down. Frigidaire (weird name for an oven....but ) is the low price leader...I bought my first one in. 2016 and love it. I bought a second one for my son who moved in to a new home late last year.
If the pan moves off the burner it shuts off...and you can't even call it a "burner" anymore..it's an "induction" surface that makes the pan hot....but the glass never gets "red" like convection surfaces.
.it doesn't get that hot!
A caveat...it will only work with steel or iron based cookware. Aluminum cookware doesn't work....I'm not sure about Copper clad steel pots and pans - I haven't tested them. But steel woks...wow. cast iron...excellent.
You'll have a far lower chance of a cloth catching fire on an untended burner...and like I said; if the pan moves off the burner the unit stops working.
The kitchen stays cooler. The oven isn't a true "convection oven"...there's a small fan in the oven....sort of a "pseudo-convection" feature....I don't notice any significant baking time changes.

And years after that was "recovery"...so all I can suggest to you is that you focus on self-love. @itsmedammit ....and we who live here love to let folk "buy in" to that "myth" - it keeps the population down. If you're fair skinned, and if you've lived with snow and ice most of your life; then Florida summers are not for you.
But our temps never get over 100; yours do. Our humidity gets higher, but never as muggy as the middle states do in a heat wave...
It's (Shhhhh) actually quite pleasant here in Florida....(but don't tell anyone).

I left the cold and rainy New York Climate for Florida climate in 77. Never looked back. I have visited a few times...but never in winter. Too many bitter cold experiences. I'm closing on a 2-2 for rent on a monthly basis...PM me if you're interested in trying us out for a month.

If you want to have worth, and respect,...adjust. Go with the flow. Lighten up.

You're right about the "oldie but goodie" strategy. I bought a new one when I moved in 98 and it was basically a purchase based on availability of funds...not need...and I was sorry I did it. Now I've moved again...have a 10 year old "stacked" washer/dryer that works fine....the repair guy said it's very "serviceable" so it'll probably die after I do!

@sassygirl3869 Kind of a 'blanket statement - " people are not wearing masks"? I still see lots of folk around here being cautious and considerate. And many are staying home and self-isolating. Those going to work are apparently Social-distancing as well.
The problem is - we all need to eventually "catch" it.
We need to either develop immunity or get it through vaccine.
By this time next year most of us will likely go through it.
If you're healthy, well rested, you might not get severe symptoms...and then you'll be immune for life. If we get those who "catch" it to stay home and self isolate....then we'll "flatten the curve"
Remember the main intention of "flattening the curve" isn't to reduce deaths....it's just to spread them out over a longer time to allow health care to handle it better; which will, in tun, reduce deaths.
