Fully automatic rifles have been made illegal for private ownership in the US since 1986, and a ban on all privately owned firearms would be nowhere near enforceable given the millions of them currently in circulation. While I do not believe anything is sacred in this world, I was forced to go with option 1 as it's the only option of the three that is the most consistent with reality. The second choice is already law, and the third is just wishful thinking that is on par with blind belief in a deity.

Unusually hot for eastern PA even this time of the year. Please note my restraint on complaining about the intermittent power outages. The Uvalde Police response was a poor comparison, that fiasco had nothing directly to do with guns but rather police officers not doing their jobs like they were hired to do, big difference there. Trying to use the "more guns" argument was weak in my opinion, because that overlooks the real problem there. Only speaking for myself, I never advocated for every American to carry around an AR-15, a 9mm pistol is more than adequate for self defense. I'm curious, what would your solution to the problem be, knowing full well how if the laws fail even once that means conceivably the same could happen again? The anti-gun rights crowd is so upset over citizens carrying in anticipation of random shootings, they hate the good guy with a gun argument, and yet what do we do when a random shooting takes place? You got it... we call good guys with guns (aka police) to come and neutralize the threat, in other words guns are part of the equation in dealing with such acts of violence. I'm not trying to be personal here, and speaking from someone who knows what it's like to argue from a gun control stance, that whole tirade against good guys with guns is nothing more than an emotional knee-jerk reaction. Denmark's laws in the end did not protect their citizens, and we'll never know for sure just how much better that situation would have ...

So while well intentioned, the above meme would not be accurate from a strictly biblical point of view. As for those who post hateful things, there are two sides to every story and unfortunately no shortage of hatred to go around on both sides of that argument. While it cannot be denied that there are many religious individuals out there who are hateful towards anyone who is different than themselves, there are equally many individuals on the other side (other side meaning non-believers, abortion rights supporters, and LGBT individuals) who harbor hatred towards any perceived opposition. I know that to be true, as over the years I've crossed paths with such people from both sides of the social spectrum, people who seethe with hatred towards anyone who holds differing point of views than themselves.

Regarding the allegations of abuse against an individual and said individual immediately losing their rights and having to wait a long time before they get their day in Court, if such scenarios are wrong then why would red flag scenarios involving gun owners be any better? See, that's not about the guns per se, but rather about circumventing one's due process rights, and let's face it these red flag scenarios are ripe for some serious abuse. No one should have to go through anything like that, and the Government that can do such to a citizen where gun laws are concerned could do the same thing to other individual rights that you hold near and dear to your heart. In short, be careful what you wish for.
