Note how most of those who voted for the vigilante option are usually the same ones who believe all police departments across the country should be defunded, which in turn begs the question that if one were to believe that father was wrong and also the police are a problem and should not be called, what exactly would they consider to be a reasonable alternative then? Just sit back and become a victim, and just hope to survive the ordeal? That's pretty much the only other option, and it's neither a sane or rational one at that.

SpikeTalon comments on Mar 12, 2023:
I wouldn't use the words "public servant", but perhaps doing that as a form of self defense. In the particular case above, it appears the father did what he did out of genuine concern for his daughter whom he believed to be in danger, and pedophiles can and have murdered children after they were done abusing their victims, and that father didn't want to risk his daughter being the next such victim.

Our state and it’s governor are determined to reign in gun violence.
SpikeTalon comments on Mar 12, 2023:
As long as Democratic AGs and the Democratic Party by and large seek to go soft on violent or even potentially violent offenders, I don't for one moment honestly believe any of them are truly serious about putting an end to such violence. Actions speak louder than words, and it makes no bit of rational sense to enact even more redundant gun control laws while simultaneously drastically reducing the prison sentences of violent offenders, that of whom would once again be free to roam the streets and bring harm to others. Prior to 1986 when then President Reagan made fully automatic guns illegal to own, there were many such weapons in the hands of many private citizens, a number of whom undoubtedly owned high-capacity magazines. Yet, prior to the last decades now or so mass shooting incidents were incredibly rare. So my question to you people is, how do you account for all of that? Back in a time when there were far less gun control laws on the books mass shootings were a rarity, and yet as time went by and more gun control laws were dreamed up and enacted all across the country all of a sudden we see an increase in random shootings. I really would like to hear how you people rationalize all of that, and am I really the only one here who realizes these gun control laws along with all of these "gun-free zones" are what's continuing to get people killed, and that the guns and related accessories are not the real problem? I live in Pennsylvania, Allentown to be precise, and while we do tend to be a blue state our laws regarding private gun ownership are fairly lax compared to neighboring states like say, New York. Well, lax laws in the state excepting for the city of Philadelphia, which the laws are so strict there that you can't even order a slingshot online and have it delivered anywhere in the city. Regardless of their strict laws, that place remains a persistent haven for violent offenders and random shooting sprees. In contrast, my home city of Allentown, while far more lax on the laws and still dealing with a decent share of crime, still does not see the level of violence that Philadelphia sees. Now... can you rationally explain to me how a city like Philadelphia in which it's already not easy to legally acquire a gun still can see so much violence and crime, if their laws actually worked as they like to claim? Hint hint, that's because the guns aren't the damned problem, the citizens living there are the problem, those who most likely didn't receive a proper basic education and who joined violent gangs promising them the world. That, along with an increasing number of people living in that city who suffer from some sort of mental illness. Also, it's worth pointing out that "progressive left paradises" such as Seattle Los Angeles and ...

Is there such a thing as "toxic masculinity"?
SpikeTalon comments on Mar 12, 2023:
No, it is a myth, intended to explain away complex behaviors and emotions. From Medium, which is a left-leaning site... Toxic Masculinity Is A Myth- https://medium.com/@madisonjamesbookings/toxic-masculinity-is-a-myth-33758befa4b1 We need more strong and independent men in society who lead by example, the kind of men who seek to protect and fight for women's individual rights instead of trying to deny them such and taking advantage of them. In the end, masculinity is whatever an individual man lets it be, and such emotions could be used for both positive and negative purposes. I'm a decent example of one who's comfortable in his masculinity, as I can be both a rough and tumble gun owner, and I can also be a sexual male exotic entertainer for women, both rough and soft sides which in turn strike a balance in life. Such balance is missing in the lives of many men these days, but that is an individual (each man that is) problem and not a collective one (aka, the toxic masculinity theory).

Isn't that curious... a country with some strict gun control laws in place and yet look what happened. A shame, but then again I suspect too many people put too much trust in the laws to always protect them.

Florida's 21-year age requirement for buying guns upheld in NRA suit | Reuters
SpikeTalon comments on Mar 10, 2023:
If one is not considered responsible enough to own long guns at age 18, then the same standard should be upheld when it comes to voting too, as voting carries with it a heavy responsibility. If I'm not mistaken, one also has to be at least 21 years old in order to consume alcoholic beverages and to gamble, so the minimum age to vote and to serve in the Armed Forces should also be raised. As for "common sense" gun control laws are concerned, there's no such thing as that in reality. States like California who lead the way in gun control laws also hold the honor of witnessing the most mass shootings since 1999, and a city like Philadelphia which is only about 60 or so miles away from where I live, has the most restrictive laws in the state where gun control is concerned and that place is riddled with violent crime that often times sees random shootings. So much for the laws working, pretty much for the same reason why laws restricting abortion procedures are ridiculous as determined people find ways to skirt around the laws. Legislation like that is for political show, and won't do much to deter crime in the long run.

How exactly is this humorous?? What is known as PayPal today originally started off as two separate companies, X.com which Musk was one of the co-founders and software company Confinity. So he certainly had a hand in helping form PayPal. Awhile back he had clarified in a tweet that he was a co-founder of Tesla and provided the company with considerable funding, unlike its two founders who stood idly by while the company wasn't making much progress. Yeah... SpaceX was formed by Musk- https://www.britannica.com/topic/SpaceX Uh... who isn't complaining about how bad the world is nowadays?? Jesus fuck, all I hear from the progressive crowd is how fundamentally evil the country is along with virtually all white people being racist and evil. The conservative MAGA bunch are equally annoying as well, constantly complaining about their moron leader having an Election "stolen" from him when in reality he lost that fair and square. I think complaining like that is a part of human nature, because we all get disgruntled sometimes by certain things or other people, so why only criticize Musk over that, right? Yeah, he is helping to change the world for the better, from pro science source Live Science- https://www.livescience.com/38880-elon-musk-is-changing-the-world.html https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/live-science/ As for the fiasco with that disabled Twitter employee, at least Musk offered up a timely apology to him which showed Musk was willing to own up to his actions rather than run from them, and I can't say the same for certain other well known personalities out there in society. Namely the current President, who has been known to ruthlessly mock others who he may have disagreed with, similar tactics that the cheeto before him also used to do to other people.- https://www.euronews.com/2022/01/25/watch-microphone-picks-up-joe-biden-insulting-journalist No one here is going to deny you your opinion(s), but others will have theirs as well, and there's nothing much humorous about an internet meme that isn't even accurate to begin with. 16 Democratic AGs condemn DeSantis' request for info on transgender care from colleges
SpikeTalon comments on Mar 5, 2023:
It's my understanding that request was made back in late January or early February, and being not much time has lapsed since then it's still too early to determine for sure the exact motives behind such a move, and my own research into that specific matter yielded no certain conclusions. While nefarious reasons could be involved in all of that, DeSantis may also be doing so for mental health purposes, as suicide rates among transgender individuals tends to be high, and recently there has been a push for enhancing mental health checks. Context is missing regarding the story above, and it's still too early yet to determine the exact motive behind such, so skepticism on claim(s) made is warranted. When stories like that come up, I'm reminded of this one https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/08/politics/fact-check-desantis-florida-students-professors-political-views/index.html that occured last year in which a known leftwing source blatantly fabricated claims made against DeSantis, and nowadays with politics being so emotionally charged and everyone trying to promote their own agendas, I can't help but be skeptical about stories like that promoting what could be considered fear-based propaganda. That said, in due course I'm sure a real motive will come to light, and that should indeed be interesting.

Depends on what purpose you had in mind, general home surveillance while you're out and about, or to have a standalone mini camera with you wherever you go? Was also looking at compact underwater cameras too. These days, never know what situations one could suddenly find themselves in where having a mini camera would come in handy. Still debating on whether I settle on a body camera or an underwater smart camera. Not sure what to say, depends largely upon your intended use. I think that's a reasonable price for that particular type of camera. @Thibaud70 Try to ignore the sarcastic morons who missed the point you were trying to get across, unfortunately the site has a number of such people. The same people who are upset over the culture war personal identities etc being nothing but a distraction often times indulge in pointless distractions themselves. For example, they fixate on certain objects... like those high-capacity gun magazines, instead of focusing on the actual problem of there being desperate people in society who turn to a life of crime and who also often times turn violent, along with a broken public education system that continues to fail our youths. But no, they fixate on objects instead and ignore the real problems. Not that I'm shocked over such, as most such individuals are nothing more than intellectual cowards who want to run away when you confront them with reality, and the excuses they come up with are some of the pitiful I've ever heard. Personally, I care not about the names or titles some people go by that others may consider to be questionable, that be their choice. I do however care when someone identifies as a woman and that "woman" proceeds to rape another woman and said woman gets impregnated, because at that point the reality sets in that we weren't really dealing with a woman in the first place but rather obviously it was a man who raped that woman. Two biological women cannot reproduce on their own, only a man and a woman could do that on their own. See, such scenarios go way beyond just talking about personal gender preferences etc, and anyone who thinks otherwise is in denial of reality. But some people cannot be reasoned with though, and their own personal political ideologies get in the way with logic and reasoning. And on goes the "culture war", and watching my fellow human beings quibble over such while ignoring the real problems in society makes me ashamed to be human.

Bastiat evidently supported free markets, which makes me suspect he was referring to forms of authoritarian governments who were opposed to free trade, regarding the quote above.- https://www.britannica.com/biography/Frederic-Bastiat Bastiat also appeared to be heavily influenced by one Adam Smith, who is considered to be the father of modern economics, and whom also was a big supporter of a laissez-faire economy.- https://www.investopedia.com/updates/adam-smith-economics/ I'd venture to say both men were rather intelligent, liberal and open-minded, and way ahead of their times. The democratic-socialists in our country have indeed established a legal system that supports plunder in the name of the "better good" for society, while also establishing a moral code called political correctness in which frowns upon the free exchange of ideas/views and ultimately liberalism itself. That said, I do agree that greed is a sickness, a monster that of whose appetite can never be satisfied. While this thing called crony capitalism (aka, not capitalism as intended to be) is indeed one such monster, I'd also contend socialism along with its distant cousin communism are also monsters who are ruled by greed. Socialism for the wealthy elites and those who have connections, the kind of socialism that virtually all politicians enjoy and benefit from, while dealing empty promises to the people they are supposed to be serving. Greed writ large there, and certainly nothing genuinely liberal. Curious albeit trying times we live in.
[news.gallup.com] A poll said 26% of Americans still trust the media.
SpikeTalon comments on Feb 22, 2023:
That poll is from Gallup, a known centrist source which is rated high in the credibility department. Gotta love the smartasses and "experts" who question any sort of polling that of which may go against any world views they wish to adhere to, and I suppose such an attitude would be considered "progress", lol. Well played, you went by a credible source, and I respect that.
THAAAAANNKKKYYYYOOOOOUUUU!!! Finally,,, someone with a brain speaks out to these annoying shits.

Regarding who you linked to below... so says the "expert" on those matters, lol.
Do woke liberals understand freedom? Wokeness should be the opposite of liberalism .
SpikeTalon comments on Feb 22, 2023:
Exactly, because liberalism in its purest form means to be open-minded and accepting of varying point of views, which is the opposite of what modern day progressive types stand for. I'm fairly liberal in my views, even though going by today's political standards someone like me would be considered a bit more to the right on the political spectrum. These days, save for perhaps a few of the social-based issues, Democrats aren't genuinely liberal but rather of the progressive PC persuasion, and alot of the Democratic politicians even openly self-identify as progressive and not liberal.

We have drug dealers in our supermarkets, and nobody seems to be concerned in the slightest.

Far too many of them these days, and small wonder why so many folks out there are dealing with various addictions, look at the model they have to go on... Other things like tech gadgets or guns will get the blame for all the ills in society, while the real issue goes unaddressed.
I am listening, live, to the translation of Putin's speech to Russia.

The latter one is open-minded to making changes if need be. This is just a personal opinion, but nowadays in the USA where politics are concerned I contend there isn't much difference between a fiscal conservative and classic liberal. When it comes to serious differences in opinions regarding both political sides, the two extremes would be progressive (far left) and social conservative (far right), both of which I am opposed to.
Biden declares ‘Kyiv stands’ in surprise visit to Ukraine
SpikeTalon comments on Feb 20, 2023:
I'm sure the Kremlin will respond yet, just give it a little more time. Yeah, being Kyiv is obviously still around and hasn't been taken over yet or outright annihilated, did Biden really need to tell us the obvious?

SpikeTalon comments on Feb 19, 2023:
In an ideal world where everyone was honest and not wasteful such a thing as prior authorization would not be necessary, but we don't live in such a world though which is why PA exists. Each year there is needless wasteful spending when it comes to healthcare, in particular Medicare and Medicaid in which far too many people game (cheat) the system and get procedures or prescriptions that are not really necessary to maintain their health. The other problem that PA seeks to be a solution to is cutting down on prescription medications which are being abused by far too many patients resulting in addictions to such drugs. Healthcare providers these days (not all of them though) are far too willing to prescribe every medication under the sun, and far too many patients are developing addictions to said drugs which in turn ruin lives elsewhere. How is something like that progress? They tried to do that with me when I was first being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, must have been seven or so medications they were prescribing for me, and when I tried this one medication (think it was called Tramadol) you know what happened to me afterwards? A few hours later I was seeing things that obviously weren't there, and my overall vision was distorted all of a sudden. One and done for me, no more of that drug afterwards, I was tripping the frickin rift, and that was a rather unpleasant experience. After I got out of the hospital and had first visit with endocrinologist, he even said that I didn't really need all of those medications that were prescribed, and was doing quite well recovering from the ketoacidosis. I was close to dead by the time of diagnosis, having dropped down to 119 pounds from 185 and my blood looked thick like syrup, and yet even as bad off as I was my healthcare team at the time was quick to prescribe me what turned out to be needless medications, and in scenarios like that who do you think profits from that sort of thing the most? It's the pharmaceutical companies, that's who, and none of which really care when patients get prescribed needless procedures or drugs and said patients develop addictions afterwards. Not gonna even go into all the medical procedures I was subjected to, again every procedure under the sun, every time I turned around they were taking me off to another test, most of which were not necessary. But do you for one moment think the doctors and nurses really cared about that, of course not because they would get paid and they didn't care if I was uncomfortable getting all of those procedures or if all of that was even necessary in the first place. So that's why PA exists, to limit the amount of unnecessary procedures and to determine if certain drugs are truly necessary to treat the ailments and conditions in question. To ...

Listening to Motown artists this morning. [music.youtube.com]
SpikeTalon comments on Feb 19, 2023:
Motown recently lost a legend in Barrett Strong. Was first introduced to his hit song Money (That's What I Want) on a Disney DTV short back in the 1980s.
So wasn't the SOTU address just brilliant.

Boy, 5, among 9 kids injured in shooting at Georgia gas station
SpikeTalon comments on Feb 18, 2023:
That incident thankfully did not claim any lives, and to claim otherwise would be a gross exaggeration. It appears there was some sort of party at a nearby location and it got out of hand and spilled over at that gas station. I'm willing to bet said party was most likely unsupervised and alcohol may very well have been present, which can be a deadly combination. Such begs the question where the hell are the adults at, someone should have been watching over those kids.- https://www.news10.com/news/9-minors-injured-in-shooting-at-georgia-gas-station-police-say-youngest-victim-is-5/ For the umpteenth time, the problem is not guns or what you perceive to be gun violence, there is only violent actions that may (or may not at times) include using guns. Even if somehow we could manage to remove all of the guns from society, the problem with youth violence would still exist and still pose a problem. Do we keep track of those murdered with other weapons and tools like knives or blunt instruments like baseball bats? Many people die each year by bladed weapons, but do we call that knife violence? Of course not, because the weapon or tool used would be beside the point, the violent intentions are what the problem really is. And yeah, criminals still will and do get their hands on guns regardless of the laws, with big help from the thriving black markets. If it wasn't for so many restrictive laws, there would be more good guys with guns, and certainly more random shooting incidents stopped dead in their tracks. If one actually took the time to research this stuff properly and from an unbiased position, one would find no shortage of documented incidents of good guys who were armed and saved their lives and the lives of others from crazed criminals bent on causing harm to others. So you don't believe young kids can hold criminal tendencies? If so, I'd like to invite you here to the city of Allentown or Philadelphia and I could show you just how serious of a problem youth crime and violent gangs really are. That's no joke, and it's truly naive for anyone to think that young kids absolutely could never be prone to criminal tendencies. This was a good story that took place last year, and you can't blame the guns that time, and is proof that young kids can be and are capable of violently criminal deeds, and I do mean sick and depraved at that, and I defy anyone to try to claim otherwise.- https://www.newsweek.com/juvenile-brothers-turn-selves-over-beating-death-philadelphia-man-1723640 Did you ever stop to think that alot of that is needless fearmongering, and kids often times believe whatever adults tell them when it comes to situations like that. Maybe perhaps cut down a bit on the scaremongering and maybe these kids won't feel so paranoid. Their odds of ...
