My ancestor, Edward Doty, came over on the Mayflower.
He shot the first duel in America. No one got hurt.
The two combatants were punished by being tied together at their chests for two days in the Plymouth jail. They had to cooperate. This is in the record.

Very interesting.
I’ve been to the pub in London that overlooks where the Mayflower was moored on the Thames river, before it sailed to America.
Apparently it’s the only pub in the uk that still has the right to sell both Royal Mail and American stamps. For sailors to use.
