This a story regaled to my by my Italian immigrant, farmer grandfather. I believe it is true. He needed a plow horse and he heard that another Italian farmer down the river was selling his old mare for $5.00. My grandfather looked it over and hemmed and hawed. The other farmer said "I tella you what, this horse'a, she no looka so good so Im'a gonna sell her to you for whatever you wanna pay me". My grandfather didn't think the old mare looked that bad and since his new found friend was being so nice about it he said, I'll give you seven dollars. The next morning he yolked up the mare and started to plow his first row. The horse went everywhere. That went on all day. That night he lead the mare back to the farmer and he said "you somana bache, you sold me a blind horse and I wanna my money back now". The farmer replied with alarm "no no no, I tell you she no looka so good". That's his story and he can't take it back now.
