@Rudy1962 We have issues here when kids are left in the vehicle. In the summers, when outside temps can reach well over 100F the temp inside a closed vehicle can top 140F easy. The younger the child the easier & quicker their brains can be literally cooked. Pets can suffer & die, too. Too often its either some form of 'I forgot' as an excuse, or the always popular, 'I was only going to be gone a second'. Some parents have been charged & some marriages have ended over this. Still happens far too often even with PSA's & news stories every season.

I went late, well after my USN service, so there was dooodley going on on campus, really. But, even when I was in HS and active, I didn't join anything, tho I was very active. Most of the "Movement" was led by prick guys in college inflating themselves & trying for harems. I used their orgs for their copy machines for my own groups "gatherings" & picked up organizing tips. I hope race didn't enter into it, we can't know what was in the officer's head, but this seemed from the footage to be a split second decision with a life on the line. Seriously, if you know the police have pulled up, you drop your damn weapon, you don't go & attack someone else. I can see upset, this was a girl, after all, not an adult, but bad decisions lead to bad consequences. I do wish we had more effective 'non-lethal' means of stopping someone, but any who say "should have shot to disarm" has no idea about firearms or police training.

You know nothing of guns, police training or reacting in the moment. Even heavily trained snipers don't always hit what they aim at, let alone a patrol officer. "Almost anyone" could have disabled her in a single shot??? You do not know what you're talking about. I agree this was a tragic case, & there are still questions, but just like many police officers, you've made a snap decision based on emotion, not facts.
