What are you talking about Mike? Independence Day pretty much marked the end of the revolution, and any American who celebrates July 4 is indeed celebrating a victory achieved by armed men who stood up to an empire...and won.

@Marine I get you on the homeless and ill veterans, Marine, and you are right that is a problem. I can also agree with you to an extent that the GOP by and large does not do enough to help our vets, but the same could also be said of the Democratic Party which has its fair share of millionaires just like the other party. In a free society, if someone accumulates wealth there is no law stating they have to spread said wealth around to others, unpleasant I know but that is life and there will always be people like that. Just continue doing what you do and help whenever and wherever you could, sounds to me you're on the right path. I too have helped those in need in the past provided I had spare funds/goods in which to provide assistance.

SpikeTalon replies on Jul 4, 2018:
When you stop and think about it, nothing is for free really, you are paying something somewhere along the line whether it be a fee through seeing ad banners or having your private data sold to other parties. With that in mind is the reason why I tend to shy away from social media platforms and provide minimal background info on myself and go by a pseudonym. On social media, nothing is truly private, everyone of us on this site have and continue to pay some sort of price for using this site, which is why I'm very careful about the topics I post about.
I posted a response question in the comments and no one has the guts to answer it.

Are you or have you ever known anyone to be agnostic/atheist AND pro-life?
Hellbent comments on Jul 3, 2018:
I find it difficult to take seriously any person who uses "pro life" or "pro choice" as self-descriptions. Those expressions are propaganda slogans and are unlikely to be used by anybody who has thought about the issues.
SpikeTalon replies on Jul 3, 2018:
I'm inclined to agree with you on that. I usually use the term reproductive rights advocate to describe my stance, not pro choice because that term is too vague.
Are you or have you ever known anyone to be agnostic/atheist AND pro-life?
SpikeTalon comments on Jul 3, 2018:
I'm a conservative-leaning atheist, and even I support individual reproductive rights/pro choice.
SpikeTalon replies on Jul 3, 2018:
I also support a man's right to a symbolic abortion, meaning if the woman wants to keep the child and the man does not, the man should not have to pay child support. Child rearing is a shared process, and both partners involved need to agree for that to work, and what's fair is fair.

Jlangston70 comments on Jul 3, 2018:

@Kojaksmom I don't think it's as important to be quick to use lethal force as it is simply having the means to defend oneself. There are other weapon alternatives to guns, most of which I'm open to and understand if other people would be interested in other self defense products. Don't know about other states, but my state doesn't ban or regulate alot of things, and fireworks are even legal now. Guns don't solve all problems, but could be a solution in at least some scenarios. I agree with the people part, people are the direct problem, and that's what society needs to work on.

Not referring to how much he spent to build it, but how he treated people, in this case casino patrons. The sale in 2016 had quite a bit to do with the owner at the time who was not Trump, and by that time I had stopped going there once Trump handed the reins over to another.

@bigpawbullets I don't necessarily think it's healthy to avoid the main feed, but it could be a smarter move to make though. I can't speak for anyone else, but I didn't really come to this site looking for debate, and some of the hostility I have observed from those here on the far left is nothing short of appalling. The way I see it, there are enough argumentative malcontents on this site and I just don't think it necessary to contribute to said hostility, thus for the most part I have been content sticking to the groups. I opened my new group up to accomodate some opposing views, and I anticipate I'll be kept busy with that, so bothering with the public feed alot is not really a priority for me.

SpikeTalon replies on Jun 26, 2018:
@Charles1971 I contend both sides are self serving. You confuse conservatives with religious idiots, the latter of which have burned books and stifle free speech. You're somewhat right, Democrats these days are not liberal...they are progressive, big difference and why I do not care for them. When it comes to free speech, there are no limitations besides direct threats to welfare, do you know why? Ever hear that saying sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me? So called "hate speech" can only bother someone if they let it, it's best to ignore folks like that. Also, who gets to determine what constitutes hate speech? Big government and military are two different things, so stop mixing them. No, liberals these days are for more government spending and higher taxes, not the other way around. I contend that deep down inside most human beings are selfish and care about self preservation, study natural selection sometime, but of course most human beings do not want to admit that to face reality that we are wired to preserve the self. Too much political correctness. I don't care what other people do or how they survive, that is their business to support themselves, and I'm tired of socialist criminals stealing from me to give to the dregs of society, I don't see how they are any different than those horrible rich people you were talking about. So I disagree with you, and no fucking bleeding heart progressive liberal jackasses are going to silence my voice, I'm tired of getting bashed for offering different ideas. During my time on this site I have observed most on here lean heavily to left, and the amount of prejudice and intolerance they have shown to opposing views is anything short of appalling and hardly what they claim to be...all loving and accepting. I honestly don't care anymore about what others think, trying to be fair and open minded got me nowhere, I just want to be left alone now.

SpikeTalon replies on Jun 26, 2018:
@MikeFlora Nothing makes me better than anyone else, so what gives someone the right to tell me what I can and cannot own in what is supposed to be a free country? What is this, the nanny state now? Since when does someone owning something automatically threaten another? We have enough oversight in this country. People don't need alot of things in life, but they have them anyway. What I own isn't nor ever should be anyone else's business. The thing that gets me is that no one suggests disarming those in government, and that's what I find to be hypocrisy. Why trust them over another, we're all human afterall. These weapons exist, that is reality, and no one could just wish them out of existence. Gun control doesn't work in alot of other countries, they experience gun crime just like us, ask Lancer about that the next time he is on. Besides, that's a rather moot point because other countries do not live under the US Constitution like we do. You are literally opening up a Pandora's Box and don't realize it, which is what concerns me. The instant we start suggesting limiting or taking away rights or even just restricting rights without due process we go down a dark path of no return. Once they put restrictions on gun ownership, what comes next, did you ever ask yourself that? No one should have to be afraid in society, but this isn't a dreamworld where everyone gets along with each other, this is reality, and in reality there will be evil people who seek to do harm. If you are afraid then arm yourself, and if someone does not trust themselves with guns that is a personal issue then, just don't tell others what they can and cannot own. I'm a free man who bothers no one and seeks to harm no one, no one has the right to put limitations on me. I need to get back to sleep, someone needs to start another post or something as this one is getting too long. The main focus here should be gun control vs no gun control.

@MikeFlora how many kids have done that is not the point in question, but that it can and has happened before and could/will again, yet the liberals have nothing to say about that. It is still a poor comparison to use because cars are different from firearms. No one is censoring you here Mike, you have been free to state your mind and others have been free to state theirs and counter your claims. I'm not pointing fingers here, I think I'm done with that long ago. I also don't personally call you a gun hater, just one who is for gun control because that would be accurate. Please keep in mind that both sides need to be reasonable, I have tried to explain things too in the past and the gun control crowd assumes things about me that are not true, so I know how you feel as I'm in the same boat.

SpikeTalon replies on Jun 26, 2018:
@MrLink Thank you for taking the time to answer, and I have a good picture of where you are coming from now. I understand there are some people who do not associate with "ists" and "isms" because titles and names are a part of what is dividing this country. While I do not exactly care for Mr Trump as an individual, I do mostly approve of his job performance to date and firmly believe by the end of his term those who are spreading doomsday scenarios around will realize they were being too dramatic. I'm convinced hardly anything these days are what they appear to be at first glance, and I do not trust most reporting from most mainstream media sources, because if you dig deep enough you would find money is their motivator and not truth. I don't think I have to mention this, but my overall politics do lean heavily to the right. If it wasn't for religious idiots influencing the GOP on certain issues such as reproductive rights among a few other social issues, they would be a more well liked party then they are at present time. With that said, I am not a Republican though, registered Independent because the two party system has got to go. I think socialism is a horrible system for this country, but perhaps that could be a topic of discussion for another time. I mostly asked that question due to the fact that this group has been a favorite target of trolls and I'm more than a little leery whenever someone new joins. Most folks in this group wish to be left alone and free to post on whatever is on their mind minus the trolling, like every group on here should be like. I'm perfectly fine with what you mentioned, sounds like you are a balanced individual, and personally speaking I try to be accepting of all views regardless of the fact I find myself at constant odds with lib progressives. Thank you for clarifying your stance, this has been most interesting, and even if you do not see eye-to-eye with us in this group always I appreciate you taking an interest in our group.
