SpikeTalon replies on Jun 8, 2018:
You're right about that, nothing is for free. This site is funded by private donors, and I think any member on here could donate if they wanted to, which I might look into in the future. The donations must be considerable, because the founder of this site had mentioned about himself donating quite a bit to other secular organizations. Given the fact of how much trolling goes on this site and an overall hostile attitude towards conservatives like you and I, with that in mind can't say I'd be willing to pay a fee to use this site. Now, if I were a liberal progressive I would be more inclined to pay a fee to use this site. Not sure about anyone else in our two groups, but I have already received harassing messages from sock puppet accounts, and at least one fellow member that I'm aware of has been publicly harassed and prejudiced against and banned from certain groups for no valid reason.

SpikeTalon replies on Jun 7, 2018:
@MikeFlora No place on the face of this world is one hundred percent safe or secure, it doesn't matter where you are or if you were to move to another location, evil people among other dangers are present everywhere. Some states have laws that enforce stand your ground situations and under most circumstances would not punish someone for defending themselves or loved ones. Even in a state that does not respect stand your ground situations, if you truly are not the offender in the situation and genuinely only wanted to save another person, you would have a good defense for your case and could fight it in court. You ask wouldn't reducing the risk be the answer, and I ask just how exactly do we as a society go about doing that? I don't think there is a surefire way to totally remove all threats, which is why I arm myself just in case. I got your last message and I will get back to you on that eventually.
Pretty accurate. I see some Utopian societies right there.

@skeptic99 What you just mentioned above sums up what I have been trying to explain to atheists I know who identify as liberal progressives. The concept of socialism is suggested numerous times throughout the New Testament writings in the bible, all the while frowning upon capitalism and the accumulation of personal wealth. Regarding the last part of your comment, I too have pondered that much for some time now. Could it be perhaps that in present time the political left has taken on the role of being society's savior by siding with those perceived to be minorities (non-whites, lgbt community, the poor etc) and thus in the process give the illusion they care for everyone while the political right is made to look like the villain for promoting individualism and self-sufficiency?

@skeptic99 Freedom of speech is not exactly respected on this site, and over ninety percent of the membership on here leans heavily to the political left. @GlyndonD I think we conservatives have far more in common with Libertarians politically speaking than the liberals do. Although I remain hopeful I still rather doubt those on the political left will ever embrace Libertarian beliefs, they are grounded in too much political correctness. Perhaps after the current presidency is over more people will get pissed off and vote for a third party candidate. I don't bother as much anymore with the public threads on here, I'm content with the groups. I keep my eyes peeled for any new members who might be conservative/independent to let them know they are not alone on here amongst the sea of radical socialists, and I would be sure to mention this group to any who may have an interest.

Through the years I have observed both Republicans and Democrats show an unwillingness to communicate with the other side, Republicans are not the only ones who do that. I have been on this site for a few months now and are appalled at some of the ill behavior from those who identify as liberal progressive. I do not relish the thought of ever having to block anyone, but after trying unsuccessfully multiple times to discuss political topics with some of those who lean left, I was forced to block those who decided to hurl unjustified insults my direction for simply offering another point of view. I do like this site and enjoy interacting on it, but I am convinced not everyone on here has a truly welcoming attitude to differing opinions.

The point of this post was to illustrate how politicians are able to commit crimes and for the most part getting off easy, while the average American would get the book thrown at them for committing the same offense. How well do you k kids these days understand the US Constitution?
Trajan61 comments on May 31, 2018:
Here in rural western Oklahoma I have 4 grandchildren and I think all 4 of them will understand the US constitution quite well. The oldest is just 7 but they are well ahead of where I was when I was that age.
SpikeTalon replies on May 31, 2018:
That much is good news. I'm willing to bet there is a sizable portion of kids in the public school system these days who are not familiar with the history of our great country.
I think Roseanne and her tweet is disgusting.
NFAguy53 comments on May 30, 2018:
If they were dyed in the wool liberals they would look the other way. Roseann is supposed to be Conservative now. She was pretty bigged mouth liberal for a while. I don't really buy her conversion.
SpikeTalon replies on May 31, 2018:
@Davidthinks I agree, the free market should rein in on that.

Never mind having social security when you're old, you should be preparing anyway, hopefully it doesn't happen, but it doesn't hurt to be ready. You might want to hold onto that Canadian citizenship just in case.

I don't trust social security at all, better to save money on my own. SS never should have been allowed to exist in the first place.

@Beach_slim Grievances could fall under the violence and enforcement of property rights, if they be violated. It does require considerable self control and intelligence for one involved in such, which we don't see much of in this day and age, which in turn is the reason why government is out of control.

@TheoryNumber3 Typical lefty, assuming too much. No, I don't trust FOX anymore than I do the well known liberal medias, they all lie. PBS is fairly decent. The other sources you mentioned above all lean heavily to the left, so any "evidence" they might suggest is bound to be skewed. I'm well aware there are few independent media sources compared to ones that lean either left or right, but they are out there if you dig deep enough, and the only way you would truly benefit is to do research on your own, that's what I had to do.

I would end consumerism and use AI to organise the most efficient methods to promote progress and sustainability, while not ending practices like mining, hydroelectric, etc. Inventories would be driven by demand and nothing would be mass produced in excess.

@TheoryNumber3 Yes I did say that because the Electoral College is what matters more. Regarding the second part of your comment, what else is new? The super rich have influenced our politics now for a long time. What do you think Obama and his cronies were...poor? Hillary lost because the majority of the citizens did not believe she was qualified to be President, and the liberal left just cannot accept that. Cripes, my home state of Pennsylvania is noted for being a blue state, and turned red because so many of my fellow Pennsylvanians could not stand Hillary.

SpikeTalon replies on May 30, 2018:
@AndyMoreau So let me get this straight, you believe a poll on a site that is for mostly one group of people (atheists) out of conceivably many different walks of life in this country, somehow states the absolute truth? How a majority truly feel on the topic? I'm from Pennsylvania, and I could tell you firsthand that many of my fellow Pennsylvanians absolutely disdained Hillary Clinton, and that is the reason why my state turned red even though historically speaking has been a blue state. That is the truth, but something you will not hear from the liberal medias. For freethinkers, there are truly alot of brainwashed folks on this site. @Trajan61

How do you view the term “politically correct”?
SpikeTalon comments on May 30, 2018:
In short, political correctness is forcing everyone else to accept what a certain portion of society deems to be correct speech/thought, and both the political left and right do this. Freedom of speech means the freedom to offend as well as long as no threats to personal welfare are made, and one ...
SpikeTalon replies on May 30, 2018:
@SeekingWisdom If someone becomes uncivil in their tone, you could choose to walk away from the conversation. Liberals use just as much offensive language as the conservatives do, and they certainly have no qualms in downing the President. Conservatives believe in individual liberty as opposed to government assistance, that is hardly authoritarian, you confuse atheist conservatives with religious screwballs. You've been under a rock lately, there have been plenty of Republicans that have openly downed Trump and fought against some things that he had wanted to pass. Lastly, Obama did to lie, the Affordable Care Act was one big lie, even alot of Democrats I know suffered under that act and their cost of healthcare went sky high, and not to mention how unconstitutional the individual mandate was forcing everyone to be covered or you faced paying a fine. How is that freedom? He did to lie, among other lies. Next time, you might not want to quote a liberal source for the "facts", because you are only going to get one side of the story, which pretty much leads to my original comment. I honestly do not care for either political party.

@novoxguy Trump got elected into office because the liberal left was to put it bluntly, stupid and arrogant.
