Hello. I'm a mental health and AODA therapist in a private clinic. Faith comes up a lot during sessions in this conservative and religious community. I have done this long enough I am comfortable with my response to this. I have no desire to mislead or make the session less authentic. I tell them I am a "non believer". I do tone it down from atheist. I have been pleasantly surprised with how little it has negatively impacted my relationship with my clients. I do have one guy who tries to convert me every session.

I'm a mental health therapist here in America. Many of my clients use THC to deal with symptoms. I've been convinced it helps most of them. Surely it is a better option, if it helps, than addictive prescribed drugs:. , benzodiazepams, adderall and other stimulants, opiates. I've known a few that THC made their symptoms worse ,which is true for any drug.. It is not legal here in Wisconsin. I argue all the time with the owner of the clinic where I work, who has a much more conservative position on THC. It pretty much depends on the therapist one has.

I didn't have the guts to ask him before....

Good read. It could be both. To oversimplify, people can do horrific things to others when they dehumanize others, and also when they feel the other is inheritantly evil and a threat to them. Once you feel someone is a grave threat to you it is easier to lose your sense of compassion or empathy towards them. There is also the factors of "group thinking" and projection. I believe there is a lot of projection.
