DenoPenno comments on Jun 11, 2019:
IF the Trump Wall was really important it would have been started seriously in the first 2 years. The GOP was in power and nobody to oppose them. Even today they lie about it being built when what is going on is a much earlier planned cosmetic in certain areas where there is a wall. In fact, both parties were for a wall stretching just over 700 miles in our border area with Mexico. This dates back into the Clintons, Bush, and Obama. The Trump Wall is next to an impossible feat that will cover the entire distance of our border. Not everyone talks of this or makes it clear, and this includes both political parties. What gives? I'm sick of the drama and the lies.

DenoPenno comments on Jun 11, 2019:
We all know there were problems before Trump. My big beef is the constant lies and daily tweets that scream out to everyone "me, me me!" I get it that he is in love with himself. I do not share his feelings and I want America to be sane again. I need "normal" news rather than Reality TV brought daily into dominating the media and the White House.

I am really sick of living in the USA. What country can I go to where they don't hate americans?
DenoPenno comments on Jun 11, 2019:
This is a very big question. Before you move anywhere else I would make sure that you are able to do so with total freedom of choice and money enough to make it all work. In many areas an "ex-pat" as you would be called has to come back to the USA periodically in order to continue collecting their USA benefits and money. I, for one, cannot afford to do this.
Anyone ever heard of SHERRY SHRINER?
DenoPenno comments on Jun 11, 2019:
I see your point and I've not heard of her. What many forget these days is that** clickbait **fuels the world of payment on almost anything. News and fake news all go with it. Pics and articles go with it. Facebook and others use this and the end game on it is to know what you like so we can sell you. This is because YOU are now the product. What they sell you is a game played by modern algorithm. This has went the route of print stories on into Reality TV that so many claim to love, and now with Trump in the WH it has went into Reality America. The problem is that not many people know it or can see it, then again, not many people really care? Many see this as no problem at all and the truth is that without it media would be so much weaker or even appear to die. Everything is created with consumers in mind because you are the new product and powers that be will do anything to get your money.
HOW GOD ALMOST KILLED ME: A true story. - YouTube
DenoPenno comments on Jun 11, 2019:
That's a powerful story, David. I can identify with a lot of it as an ex-Pentecostal. Here I was studying for the ministry and god had never really spoken to me. I think it was my parents who made that decision for me. I never spoke in tongues and became aware that many who did were faking it bigtime. In later life I can remember a sermon where the minister's theme was "you are nobody until god has called your name." People were all crying and blubbering like babies over that one. It took a big part of my lifetime for me to realize that there is no god, no imaginary friend. I recall years of running from god, being drunk and in tears because I was not doing what god wanted me to do. I could have been the greatest preacher in the world but I ran away from it like Jonah and my hell on earth was my own private whale. Many times today I hear others say I never really believed, or the problem was that I did not have enough "faith" for the call. Maybe god never really called my name. How foolish. I mention to others that their perfect god had a plan in which we all got here through incest. Is that why we need him? Why did our god want to kill us for not doing something and then he offered a way out through killing Jesus who didn't do that same something either? Christianity makes such perfect sense. God can do anything but he just does not want to, or it is not in his plan. Do I believe that Elisha's bones brought a dead man back to life? No, and most Christians do not either. They just fake it until they make it.
So, God is in control.
DenoPenno comments on Jun 11, 2019:
I agree with your words fully and I can identify with what you said. Believers do not seem to understand that their loving god started out wanting to kill us for something we did not do. Then he offered a way out by killing someone else who did not do it either. Christianity makes such perfect sense.

Computers do not read and the reason this works is that the line you sign on has to have a signature. Years ago in warranty repair work if nobody was there we signed the ticket with "door open" and it always worked. In many cases today the amount of money involved determines if a person has to sign or not. In my current job I have to have a signature when I deliver the parts. Some who have credit cards on file with us have protested this signing to the main boss and he says it is OK to simply leave the parts and ticket with them. They are "on file" and choose NOT to sign all the time.

Just curious. Who would not have joined this forum if it was called atheist.com?
DenoPenno comments on Jun 10, 2019:
I do not quibble on this. I call myself an agnostic atheist and I also belong to Atheist Nexus. I dislike discussions trying to separate the so called differences between the 2 terms. Either way you look at it I demand "logic and evidence" to prove things. IF I claim for a 100% fact that there are no gods then I must produce the evidence. A lack of evidence is zero evidence. Do I believe in gods? No.
Religion in a relationship
DenoPenno comments on Jun 10, 2019:
It is possible. I work with a man who claims I am disrespectful of religions and he says he can never do that. He also told me recently that catholic was his wife's religion. This is all I know of their relationship except that they are long married over 23 years. I think a believer and non-believer can have a meaningful relationship if they understand each other and are respectful. Problems come into play when the religious one is crying for you because she wants to save your imaginary soul from going to an imaginary hell and believes all of this because her book and preacher told her about this and the will of an imaginary god. In other words, you have to avoid Evangelicals for a mixed belief relationship to work.

I agree with Dan Barker's words totally. Dumb people often ask me who do I worship if I do not believe in god. This remark is programmed into them from their book which states "everyone must serve somebody." Dylan even put those words in a song. It simply is not true. Be free.
What does freedom from religion mean to you?
DenoPenno comments on Jun 9, 2019:
All I know is that one day I discovered that "the scales had fallen off my mind" and I could think clearly just as Paul said in the NT that he could see clearly when the scales fell off his eyes. I was no longer trapped by the writings of a man who wrote most of the NT, could not tell whether he was in or out of his body, and had never even met Jesus. I finally had freedom from religion.

DenoPenno comments on Jun 9, 2019:
Maybe so and maybe no? I don't follow such things. In my church days we had stupid confessions going on where one man confessed to the entire church that he and Susy had an affair, but at least it was a natural sin, he said. It wasn't like tobacco or things like that, he said. This is how church people deal with such issues.
Spirituality in Film & Literature
DenoPenno comments on Jun 9, 2019:
I used to thrive on them as a younger man. Once I became an agnostic/atheist any ideas of things supernatural seemed to vanish. It's almost laughable now. Invisible things without a body do not scratch, cut, or bite you. They do not change temperatures, etc. and are not trying to talk with you or have you make contact. The reason for this should be plain to a great many of us. These things are simply not real. Sci- Fi and horror used to be the movies for me. Today my non-belief in gods and anything supernatural limits what I can watch and enjoy tremendously. The Warrens hit it off with investigations that ended in a popular movie series about a possessed doll. The movies are to scare you. The real doll involved was a Raggety Ann. Sorry. I do not believe.

DenoPenno comments on Jun 6, 2019:
The Trump tariffs are now being said correctly to be **the biggest tax increase in over 30 years**. Think on it and you know this is correct. American businesses that do these imports are paying the tariff increases to get the goods here in the first place. The next move is to increase the price of the goods to pay for that increased tariff. This makes the American consumer the one that suffers. Will the Trump tariffs make money for the government? YES, all paid for by the American consumer.

Why would you need to do this? His advice shows that he believes already. Maybe you should ask him why he believes that god would write anything in books for mankind to read. You Can't Prove That God Doesn't Exist - Debunked - YouTube
DenoPenno comments on Jun 6, 2019:
Maybe we should try to prove why this god does nothing. If you believe your scriptures let us explain why Elisha's bones brought a dead man back to life. Hospitals today could work miracles if we but had Elisha's bones. Let's look for them like we try to find Noah's Ark. Yes, I know. God did things so much differently in those days. Many people raised from the dead in the OT so why was Jesus in the NT the "first fruits of the dead?" Do we think somebody might be lying here? How about angels and their wings? Sometimes you could see their wings and sometimes not. Let's also get out of the bible and into the Koran. Do you really believe that Mohammed flew to heaven on a winged horse? Oh, yes. Any of this is possible if you have enough faith. The above is just a small amount of ridiculousness.

Being homeless is caused IMHO by people believing the lies of financial institutions who have you taking out more loans than you can repay. Once you are on the streets and homeless the living conditions are right for the spread of disease. Vermin become a big problem and they carry disease. Some want to tackle this by giving the homeless a house. That seems like too close to how theirs got taken away to me. Greed is causing unpayable debt that causes homelessness. I'm sure it is not the only reason but it is a great big part of it. Vermin infestations caused great concern in our past and nobody knew what the cause was. Today we know but does anybody care?

DenoPenno comments on Jun 2, 2019:
They are meaningful words in so much as we ourselves give the words meaning. My best example would be to imagine a scene inside a church where the preacher claims everyone is there believing and of the same frame of mind. This is not true. Regardless of the subject people are not all thinking the same. Now imagine a couple out under the stars and looking up at the sky. They may have just had sex and both be smoking cigarettes. One asks the other "are you thinking what I am thinking?" As humans we do such things and ask these silly questions but it is impossible. Even if the very question takes them both back to an earlier event they are NOT thinking the same thing. So, you can imagine god as "dog" or claim that you do not know what believers are talking about in using the names they do for their deity all you want to. Evidence would show that you have about as much understanding on this as anyone else does. Religious ideas and names were never an absolute. Even when people claim they are we are not all thinking the same things.

DenoPenno comments on Jun 2, 2019:
Congratulations! This journey involved a lot of study for me and that study was the bible. The writings inside came together officially some 300 plus years after Jesus. The book contradicts itself because the many smaller books inside were never meant to be bound together as one. "Early church fathers" is a term put on people 300 or so years after Jesus, and Josephus was not a contemporary. Paul is credited with writing two thirds of the New Testament and he never knew or met Jesus. Beyond that, the man could never tell whether he was "in or out" of his body when he received his great teachings. I look back and it is so hard to imagine people who follow this. Some claim I have not tried other religions. Why would I need to? So called holy writings abound and there is no proof of gods or of gods wanting to get in touch with you. The question is more like why do we want so desperately to invent a god? Good luck to you in your journey. Remember also that we make our own luck. :)

Ah, yes. Penetration. Imagine the penis as a pistol and you are tied up and the perpetrator rubs that pistol all over your body. He even puts it in your mouth, but there is no crime unless you are penetrated.
This morning, Trump has twittered that he is going to put more tariffs on Mexico.
DenoPenno comments on May 31, 2019:
Apparently we do not see the problem we have created here. His supporters want to be in power and there appears to be no way out as long as he is a "sitting president." Someone has to fix this.
Suicide Epidemic Has Swept Across American West – Rolling Stone
DenoPenno comments on May 31, 2019:
Lingle says he could not take the anxiety and depression any longer and that his lottery tickets were not winning. The author downplays the part on the lottery tickets. i don't think he should have. Our lifestyles today create both anxiety and depression. We are told that we should win and that we will win. Everything is pushed at us in this manner today. It should be plain that not everyone will win. Things like this happen in a world where we have become the product. Then we have drugs both legal and illegal. On TV you find constantly that drug companies are being sued because of wronghful death. On the illegal end of this we see that everyone wants that higher high. Drug makers are adding Fentanyl and causes overdose and death for many. Look at the wrong thinking our society is creating. It's all about money. The love of money.
Georgia church hires woman to make contact with the dead | Barry Duke
DenoPenno comments on May 31, 2019:
Yes, it is total bullshit. I seldom do bible quotes but here is one. Ecclesiastes 9:5 explains it all. It plainly says that **the dead do not know anything.** The most likely reason is that they are dead. That makes sense to me. Bible believing supernaturalists have another take however. They seem to follow Paul.

DenoPenno comments on May 30, 2019:
Jesus did both. Imagine how long it must have taken for Jesus to be raised into the air before he was received by a cloud and was out of site. Imagine the release of a helium balloon to help you see this. Now imagine that Jesus will return "in like manner."
I prayed every night, starting at a young age, up until two years or so ago when I started to doubt ...
DenoPenno comments on May 30, 2019:
You have only been a non-believer for about 2 years so getting frightened and going back to "prayer mode" is a form of protection. Not that it ever worked, but you thought it worked and that was why you did it in the first place. As for voices, I would not be worried unless you have some sort of ongoing dialog that involves other voices. In other words, if you hear voices and it appears you are carrying on a conversation of some sort. Prayer is not like that. If we flip TV channels or run through radio stations we hear voices. Being tired and hearing such things in your head can be normal and fixed by simply getting a little sleep. If you have an "invisible friend" or your neighbors dog is telling you to kill people you have a real problem. I'm not sure that having Schizophrenia in the family is a real reason to worry about anything. I know such a family and only one person in that family has it. This is the best the family members themselves can figure out looking back on their history.
Televangelist: Jesus Was Vaccinated Against Flu So We Don’t Have To Be

Influenza is the biggest killer in the world. When you assume your god will protect you it makes you ignorant. When you assume vaccinations are the cause of autism you are ignorant.

Trump's goons are now trying to go after the people who discovered his corruption
DenoPenno comments on May 29, 2019:
A lot of things that TRump and crew are upset about here fell into the realm of FBI and other departments to investigate. This got going well with the "Steele Dosier." Look it up as this is involved and came from British intelligent groups. No, Hillary did not "pay for it" as some claim. Her and Obama were aware of it along with many others. Trump is pushing on past the 2 year mark now still blaming Obama and Hillary for anything that he can. When will he shut the hell up and do something? He now has Barr into investigating the investigators and Barr has found an attorney in New York to take this up. Yes, the attorney is a Republican. Could we expect Barr to choose one who was a Democrat or simply had no party affiliation? Probably not. Reality America politics today - As The Stomach Churns!

Every time, I read about, see and think about Trump, I just cannot understand how addicted and prone...
DenoPenno comments on May 29, 2019:
He won the election but he still thinks Hillary should not have had 3 million more votes than he did. Those votes became the 3 million illegals and Trump wanted it investigated. Later on as women marched on Washington the votes became the votes of 3 million fat women. Any normal person would think that if you won it means you won and this is over now. Not Trump. He is thinking up new stuff again on this 3 million votes because it seems to be eating him alive! Of course, that is only one subject. Look around and you will find sooo much else that trump is worrying his little brain about. He Tweets at 3 AM. I don't and I'm also not sending e-mail or chatting at that time either. Poor Donnie. The job has too much stress for him. Recently he has said that he will not play unless the others do it his way.
What if Jesus DOESN'T love you? What if he's sick and tired of your bullshit?
DenoPenno comments on May 29, 2019:
I remember little children singing "yes, Jesus loves me" but nobody quoted a verse for that. They just wrote a song instead. My stepdad always said "Jesus loved you this much" and he held his arms out as if he was crucified. The argument here is whether nails through his hands would have held him on the cross. Later in pictures and movies we see that Jesus has nailed hands and he also has ropes around his wrists to hold him up. Believers will do anything to put Jesus on the cross. Catholics are good at leaving him there.

The only ones I'm angry at are my parents and others who convinced me that the religious nonsense was true in the first place. They didn't know, and actually they might have been scared. I'm sure they wondered what happened to you after death. Not that we should want to die, but people are very much afraid of dying. If I try to study philosophy and other religions does that change the fact that gods have never written anything for you? If I follow the bible into 300 AD and see how it was decided what to put together and why, I've learned a lot. Then we get into that New Testament with 2 thirds of it's writings credited to a man who never met or never knew Jesus. Bible study takes you right out of the ministry and Christianity. BTW, "early church contemporaries" were not that at all. They fall in there somewhere at the 300 AD mark or just beyond.

Here are Evangelical Christianity’s 10 biggest gaslighting tactics
DenoPenno comments on May 29, 2019:
All true. Isn't it so wonderful that your religion becomes a "relationship." What this means is you can lie and tell your friends how much you talk to invisible Jesus and invisible god and how much they talk back. I know a man who says he talks to Jesus this way every day and "Jesus talks back." The thing is, I would not want such a person in positions of power. You never know what his Jesus might tell him. If this was not your religion you would be locked up somewhere.
Del Shannon - Hats Off to Larry - YouTube

This song is good and also different because not many songs are about Larry. There was also a song back in the day about Norman by Sue Thompson. BTW, Del Shannon was Charles Westover.
‘They Came to Kill.’ Almost 5 Die Daily at Hands of Rio Police
DenoPenno comments on May 28, 2019:
It gets very personal when you go to Dallas, Texas for the idiotic killing of a black man shot inside his own apartment. Amber Guyger is the former police officer who did the killing and media has went so far as to say "she shot and killed her neighbor." What a crock! Supposedly she claimed to have thought this man was in her apartment and they live on separate floors. How would that make them neighbors? At the current time a judge has put a gag order on this case until after the trial. This will and does include the media.
Lest we forget. Things were better before Trump. Happy Memorial Day!
DenoPenno comments on May 28, 2019:
The only way to believe that everything in America is totally OK is to ignore all politics and refuse to see or hear the news. I work with and know a few that claim they do this. I don't believe them.

Amazing True Story On Netflix---90 Year Old Survived Two A Bomb Blasts.
DenoPenno comments on May 27, 2019:
I think he is very fortunate. Some in the Hiroshima blast were seen later to be etched into a building sort of like a drawing. Of course this depended on where they were as compared to the direct blast area. Others that lived just slowly got sick while some had immediate radiation sickness beyond repair. It took a while for them to figure it out. This was strange because I was told we dropped flyers in advance.
