@abyers1970 Have you actually been to https://clinicaltrials.gov and read the studies on Ivermectin for COVID-19 test worldwide? I have and guess what... 26 studies have returned results out of 75 done worldwide, most are for Ivermectin mixed with a variety of other drugs for the treatment of SYMPTOMS of Covid-19, NOT for the treatment of Covid-19. 35 tests used Ivermectin as the Placebo or comparative drug and were not tests on Ivermectin itself Only 7 such studies were carried out in the US 1 US study was terminated, This was the only US test actually testing Ivermectin alone and was a failure, actually causing illness 1 US was Withdrawn the manufacturers of Ivermectin pulled consent 2 test were for Doxycycline + Paracetamol (tyranol) aspirin/ Doxycycline + Zinc supplements 1 was for Fluvoxamine and Metformin 1 was for Fluvoxamine and Fluticasone 1 was to test for biomarkers in Urine using Ivermectin as a detector not a treatment Just out of curiosity I used the same site to check if Caffeine HAS been clinically tested for the treatment of Covid-19 or Covid symptoms and again believe it or not there are 16 of them worldwide 8 (Eight) of them in the US

@abyers1970 So I could speculate using your logic that during the time you had Covid-19 that if you drank coffee, and you found many members of the “survivors” group ALSO drank coffee, then OBVIOUSLY caffeine MUST be a cure for Covid-19. After all it is a drug, many survivors drank it and of course we all know correlation = causation … oh yeah right it doesn't.

Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, is AKA Dr. Paul E. Marik (63). The good doctor was at one time a renowned pulmonary heart specialist, however now in semi retirement is a lecturer in pulmonary heart disease at Eastern Virginia Medical School. His dubious claims to fame since taking up his new post are that a number of years ago he began endorsing his own Nostrum remedy for Sepsis. In “clinical trials” he administered what was basically aspirin mixed with large doses of vitamin C to patients en masse. When the research, because he had not used a double-blind testing method, was invalidated, his defence was that to give patients placebos was unethical because that would be fibbing to them. His work on Ivermectin in COVID-19 cases has been equally dogged with controversy. His clinical “tests” being to give very small doses of Ivermectin cut with aspirin (again, I wonder if he owns shares) to people who don't need it. Wait a while and then ask them if they are feeling any better. In other words, he is basically using ivermectin AS a placebo, in spite of his own ethical objections to telling Porkies to patients. In 2016 Dr. Paul Marik's article, “Humans Are Not Yeast,” (wow he's a doctor you know) was roundly condemned for claiming a)“Lactic acidosis doesn't exist.” and B) “this whole idea of trying to get rid of lactate by revving up oxygen delivery is … another bogus myth.” He was basically advocating that the Centres for Medicare and Medicaid Services should not be adopting measures ratified by the National Quality Forum. The Man is a known conspiracy theorist, and publicity seeker. He has variously been accused of saying anything will cure anything if a drug company is willing to pay him to say so. In various medical journals, it has been speculated that his purpose in doing so is to draw attention to his own fading flame by antagonizing the status quo. EDIT Dr. Marik did carry out one legitimate trial of Ivermectin last year, mixing it with vitamin C, Aspirin, an anticoagulant and a powerful steroid. The results were very definite, the concoction actually increased the likelihood of dying from Covid 19

He was the first comic on the BBC to use the F word in a routine and get away with it (well before Billy Connolly). This is before you get in to his second career as an investigative TV journalist and his dramatic acting career or his early days as a stunt performer and daredevil.

@Marionville Except that they don't, Masonic secrets leak out as if through a sieve, which is why thanks to John C Bennett we know Mormon Temple rituals and decor are all lifted from Freemasonry (Reformed Scottish rite Freemasons to be exact) Which he, Bennett, sold to Joseph Smith in 1840. Of course the Mormons claim the Masons stole the rites from them not the other way round in a sort of doing it before we did sort of way, because "Satan" (of course) leaked the rituals to the Masons (who were supposed to keep them secret for some reason) 200 years before the Mormons were supposed to bring them forth, so that they could keep them secret too.

@Moravian I am aware of that, which is why I did not mention infidelity. Wife beating, however, is another matter. My first wife beat the living shit out of me for five years. However, she made it quite clear that had I ever raised a hand against her to protect myself or, god forbid, removed myself from the situation, she would have no hesitation in calling the cops on me after she had “justifiably” crippled me for life for being a rude wimp. In spite of the fact that she was a foot taller than me and seven stone heavier and a martial artist, the rules on spousal abuse are socially quite clear and one-sided. If a woman does it, it is freaking hilarious and well deserved, because after all men are guilty of something and the woman is always the victim, I mean how dare I attack her foot with my bollocks.

@altschmerz Sadly to the rest of the world the US does appear to be a largely violent, angry and combative society, all to ready to use the last resort as a first response. As for the mask thing, here we have a track and trace QR code at the entrance to every place of business, which has to be scanned as you enter. Along with a warning that should you choose not to wear a mask or face covering inside and are caught on CCTV doing so, you thereby abnegate the business from all liability. You are further informed you will be contacted by the authorities or are likely to be a sent a statutory fine. When faced with this, but no confrontation with a person most either wear a face covering, go away or get fined. Stores that insist on face covering, usually offer people the option of using a scarf rather than a mask, and this suffices to let them think they have won, and proceed with a smug sense of self-righteousness.

Furthermore, they are called Plimsolls because they have a latex band that separates the two parts, resembling the Plimsoll line of a ship. (Plimsoll is actually a Dutch name that translates as Sun grown Plum) The Plimsoll line, and by extension the shoe, is named after Doctor Samuel Plimsoll who invented it.

@AnonySchmoose Fine idealism. Unfortunately, in real life every one of those measures would be contested by industry, by unions, by people fearing for their livelihoods and by politicians fearing for their votes. It would be hindered by compromise, outright rejection and the demand that “another way” be found. Another way that would face the same round of objections. There is only one solution, and it is horrible. If the human race is to survive, there has to be an 80% reduction of the human race. There has to be a rebalance between supply and demand. It could have been avoided, had we listened to those with foresight in the last century, but we did not. “Live for today and let the 'Devil' take tomorrow” Well the devil is taking his due, the horsemen have ridden out, we have plague, we have war, we have famine, and we have death. @altschmerz The trick is to recognise when things are being directed personally against you, at which point it is unwise not to admit to it and deal with it appropriately. When a person is actively moving against yourself, ignoring it can be fatal. Self-protection is a natural instinct, a survival instinct. You need not confront every jab or jibe someone makes to you, but what they say about you can destroy your life, this is why we have libel and slander laws. You have a right to your own dignity, there is nothing admirable in “turning the other cheek” when you recognise there is no good reason or right for them ever hitting you in the first place.

LenHazell53 replies on Aug 8, 2021:
The Characters do not appear in the Pugwash books, but were smuggled in to the BBC TV adaptations of the stories to piss off the then BBC director general sir Hugh Carleton-Greene. The original writer John Ryan famously sued over the claim. However, since then various clips from all three version of Pugwash (1957, 1974, 1998) have emerged. “Accidental” mispronunciations of “Master Mates” and “Seaman Willie Stains” have emerged on tapes. Even a misnaming of Tom The Cabin boy as Roger the Cabin boy (not much difference in regional English slang there anyway between the verbs to Tom and to Roger) have been shown to be in at least one episode. Oddly, not many people actually caught on to the fact that to have one's pug washed in was in 16th century British naval slang for receiving F on M or M on M oral sex. A pugwash being the act itself.
