273kelvin comments on Oct 4, 2022:
It is a good word but not really applicable here. To say that we never make a decision based on faith is not accurate. For example, I have faith that the aeroplane I fly on is airworthy. This is not "blind faith" but faith based on the airlines' safety records and the regulations imposed on them.
LenHazell53 replies on Oct 4, 2022:
@273kelvin The churches rely on their equivocation that faith from the Latin verb fidere "to trust," and the word faith from the Latin noun fides "assumed Credence or belief" are the same word they are not. You are making the same mistake You Trust that the aeroplane is airworthy based upon a priori facts and observation a perfectly reasonable and logical position given that you have past knowledge of reputation and safety laws and records. However, you do not assume a belief that the plane is airworthy based on no evidence or as you put it, you do not have "blind faith".
This is very sad

@OldGoat43 You have reminded me of an incident from my childhood that I had all but put out of mind. I was diagnosed as being manic depressive (Bi-Polar as it is now called) shortly before my 14 birthday. My mother informed my father of this fact and that I would be on medication for life. A few days later it was my actual birthday and after receiving (yet another) silver cross pendant from my mother and the usual grudging gift of chocolate from my brother, Dad shoved a box at me and told me that he hoped his gift would be of use to me in light of my diagnosis. I opened it to find a BSA .22 Calibre sports air rifle, a smaller version of his own. My mother went white with shock and my brother laughed hysterically. I assume he was trying to cheer me up but the possible inferences (conscious or unconscious) of buying his clinically depressed son a gun seemed to pass by the old man by completely

@waitingforgodo Interesting. However a recent hypothesis has thrown a lot of these visual theories in to discussion. It is has long been known that dogs have monochromatic vision (rods but no cones in the eyes) and it was a staple therefore to say that dogs see in black and white. However in the last few year it has been tested, because so many people were reporting that their dogs could in fact see and differentiate between colours. (it was even theorised that canines could "smell" colours) However the current thinking indicates that though dogs ( and some other animals such as bulls) see using rods in their eyes as do humans, these rods do not react only to black and white as they do in humans but also blue and yellow and are in fact primitive cones.

Elton John did play piano in John Balry's band, along with Harmonica player Rod Stewart. Bernie Taupin credited Baldry with being the one person who could persuade Elton to see sense and has claimed the song is about how Baldry talked Reg (as he was then known) in to backing out of an ill advised marriage to Linda Woodrow to prove he was straight, after Elton talked to Bernie and John about putting his head in a gas oven in a drunken state. Elton claimed to recall nothing of the night when he woke up the next day so Bernie wrote the song to remind Elton never to be that stupid again and to be himself.

@skado There are naturally things I am unwilling to discuss in a public forum, but my point is that certain subjects that for perfectly good social reasons good people do not use in public discussion as metaphor, allegory or comparison for the very good reason that they are on highly personal levels representative of private and upsetting personal or family experience. It is a part of being civilised to understand that such things exist and maybe in the experience of your interlocutors WITHOUT your knowledge, because they are PRIVATE. Therefore a decent person knows that unless that upsetting subject is the primary subject of a conversation allowing participants to know that such matters WILL be raised one does not introduce them in to the conversation for simple SHOCK value. For example when discussing altruism, a decent person does not introduce the subject of rape as in this case, in a blatant bout of "whataboutism"

When Our "belove'd" queen died a earlier this year my wife demanded to know how I knew she would pass away almost to the day (I said 31st of August) a prediction I made in 2015 using the methods and time tables calculated by Professor Murray that had governed the reigns of every English monarch since William the conqueror up until her death in 1963 (she believed Elizabeth II's rule would finish no later than 2015 equalling that of her ancestor Victoria (63 years six months and 30 days) had this held true ER would have died or abdicated Mid August/ early September 2015 instead an "Apis Bull" was sacrificed instead Armin, Prince of Lippe (18 August 1924 – 20 August 2015,) a distant cousin of the queen. Lilith refused to be tupped by Adam and become pregnant, so god cursed her and made her the demon who causes cot death and infant mortality, by smothering children. It is a Jewish myth not a Christian one originating in the second century AD, there was an earlier Mesopotamian class of demons called the Lilith (the dark walkers) who caused men to have involuntary night emissions by seducing them in their sleep.

I have to say, I like him much better after he married Camilla.
LenHazell53 replies on Sep 9, 2022:
@Lilac-JadeCanada The marriage to Dianna was was a breeding stock match initiated by the Queen mother. The Queen mother Elizabeth Bowes Lion was a direct descendent of the house of Stuart, as are Earl Spencer's family (the previous Earl spencer was a cousin of the queen mother) including the late Diana who was rolled out to marry Charles after her older sister declared she would slit her own wrist before marrying him. This means that when he accedes to the throne William will have more Stuart blood than Gotha Sax-Coburg (the real name of the Windsor dynasty, they changed it during World War One to not appear German). Since his mother (full Stuart) , his grandmother (one half Stuart) and his great Grandmother (full Stuart) and both his grandfathers (Philip one Quarter Stuart and cousin to both his wife and his mother in law and Earl Spencer whole Stuart) contribute Stuart DNA to William. William therefore by right of ancestry can change the name of the Royal family back to Stuart and reinstate the line, something the house of Stuart has been trying to engineer since 1714 when Queen Anne died childless, and the government declared the line at and end (it was not) and instead invited in the house of Hannover to take over, an off shot of which was the house of Gotha Sax-Coburg. Even if Edward the VIII had not abdicated this would have worked as he died childless and Wallace Simpson was barren. Catherine Middleton's family are descended from both the house of York (Edward iii) and the house of Lancaster( Edward iv), blood from both lines also ran in the house of Stuart, meaning when George becomes King the House of Stuart will be as pure as it has ever been since the 18th century. (the only other dubious claimant being Franz, Duke of Bavaria) It means sod all to ordinary people but is of vital import to these horsey snobs.

Yup that's one of the things this stupid judge has had to be told, along with the fact that the FBI who she has forbidden to look at the documents for investigative purposes are also the same security agency she had specifically said can look at the documents for investigation in to potential damage done. In effect she has ordered the FBI to arrest themselves if they are caught doing their job in this matter by themselves. No wonder Trump thought she would make a good Judge, she actually makes him look intelligent.

@FrayedBear OH Yes have you heard of the Thalidomide crisis? Thousand of children born deformed with low life expectancies, yet still turned a profit even after pay outs to victims and is still available solely from Chemie GrΓΌnenthal This company was founded in 1946 by Hermann Wirtz, Sr. A Nazi and his his head of research the inventor of thalidomide Heinrich MΓΌckter, a former Nazi scientist who spent his war service experimenting on Jews and homosexuals at Buchenwald concentration camp. Still today under various brand names thalidomide is marketed all over the world for the treatment of various conditions, and was Chemie GrΓΌnenthal most profitable product ever, until they invented Tramadol in 1977. It is the drug that is the number one proliferator of opioid addiction and is the 35th most commonly prescribed medication in the United States, with more than 19 million prescriptions in 2021. There was also ***Primodos*** which was sold between 1959 and 1978 and caused huge birth defects in the children of women who took it to detect pregnancy! Even when the alarm was raised that in South Korea doctors were prescribing a double dose of the filthy drug to induce miscarriages and calling it the 100% certain abortion pill, this did not stop Schering AG from continuing to sell it giving them a market value of $17.9 billion when they were bought out by Bayer health in 2004. In 2017 Bayers again refused to pay compensation to surviving victims of Primodos stating that as yet there was still NO β€œcausal association” between Primodos and severe disabilities in babies. despite the fact that doctor all over the world actually diagnose the problem as Primodos syndrome. Bayer and their predecessors Schering's legal teams have held up their legal obligation how for 62 years, during 20 of which they were still selling the shit as a pregnancy test. Incidentally the two active ingredients of Primodos norethisterone and ethinylestradiol are both still sold by Bayer ***AS CONTROCEPTIVE PILLS!***

Thank you very much for the quotation and the information. I could go along with that, other than the fact it is an American definition that falls apart as soon as you see the in the USA the Jews are defined as a race not an ethnicity or a religion, but the criteria used to justify that are the very criteria the article quoted uses this to define an ethnicity "tribal, religious, linguistic, or cultural origin or background" Anti-Semitism is prosecutable (thankfully) in the USA as *racist* hate crime, in the UK it is a religiously, motivated hate crime. I guess the terms become interchangeable according to expediency. Thanks again.

Okay did a little research Genial comes from both Latin genialis "pleasant, festive," especially when pertaining to marriage. Also from Latin genius meaning "guardian/ tutor angel," assigned by the gods at birth Latin Gene pertaining to birth, a further confusion seems to have come about in the the USA when a Town in Ohio changed their town name to Xenia to meaning a hospitable and friendly town, in 1803. However on federal records it was assumed the "hicks" had made a spelling mistake and renamed the town as Genial, the story was widely reported world wide as a joke and the two words became synonymous.
