I sat in the Just Culture class and wondered what the hell my super was taking away from the leadership courses that she had just been through when we had our awful session. I work for a hospital, they're trying to keep patients/family calm by teaching us to communicating well. She has openly mocked the training we have had to do. I'm sure my hearing loss frustrates her, but you can't holler over at me from across the room and expect full understanding. Oh well, I'm 62 in January and if worse comes to worse I will have the option to retire. I look forward to the exit interview. I am keeping notes this go round.

Help will allow him to find a job soon and get more secure housing for the children, and meals for the children. We all need help sometimes. I am not going to judge why he needs help, that isn't my job and it isn't going to help him or the kids. Taking the kids from him is not going to help the kids either.

To him it meant show up, chat for a few/watch TV, and get laid and be gone. I felt used. I don't know if men and women can be "friends", at least my definition of friends. So I don't go that route anymore. I don't think you're a good lover if you're concentrating on getting your rocks off so you can head out the door. I can take care of my own needs for release, but I craved the contact with another human. That didn't work out, so I am wiser for the pain.

When did I first start feeling sexual urges. Not a clue, but you don't know all my background and we don't have time for it here and that would explain a ton. I fully agree that children need to be taught about consent, and we honor SamSam's desires not to be hugged, held, or kissed. She's two and a half, but it is her body and she is in charge of her person. Where I live legal age is 19, however, 25 miles away in another state legal age is 18. That matters to my job for what I can discuss with parents regarding medical billing for their children. If that 19 year old doesn't sign the papers, I can't tell mom or dad anything. When I was 18 I joined the Army. I could drink alcohol on any US Military base. If I went off post I may or may not be able to drink depending on state laws.

HippieChick58 replies on Aug 28, 2019:
Just for context, Beatrice is about 2 hours from where I live, small town middle America. I copied the article for you. A Beatrice man was sentenced to probation this week for having a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl. Schad Myers, 20, was sentenced in Gage County District Court on Tuesday to five years of probation for possession of child pornography and three years probation for third-degree sexual assault of a child. The two sentences will be served consecutively, totaling eight years of probation. Myers was previously scheduled for sentencing two weeks ago, though after hearing arguments judge Rick Schreiner postponed pronouncing a sentence for two weeks to allow time to consider the case. Prosecutors argued that Myers took advantage of the girl and requested a prison sentence. Defense attorney Lee Timan asked for a sentence of probation, saying the Myers was not preying on the girl. Their relationship was romantic in nature, he said. According to arrest documents, a Beatrice Middle School student reported to a counselor that the victim was in a relationship with a 20-year-old man. Authorities were contacted and the school resource officer spoke with the victim, who said she was involved in a sexual relationship with Myers. Documents state that Myers was contacted and eventually admitted to having a sexual relationship with the girl that he said was consensual. He acknowledged having intercourse with the girl at least four times since November 2018 in his residence. The child pornography charge stemmed from a video found on Myers’ phone.

High Fructose Corn Syrup Has Been Quietly, Deceitfully Renamed
girlwithsmiles comments on Aug 20, 2019:
Very interested to know the new name but cannot access the link, could you spill the beans?
HippieChick58 replies on Aug 20, 2019:
I will give you the whole article instead, I love copy/paste :) High fructose corn syrup is a killer. Since humans started consuming it, obesity rates have more than tripled and diabetes incidence has increased more than seven fold. Even when used in moderation it is a major cause of heart disease, obesity, cancer, dementia, liver failure, tooth decay, and more. So what does the FDA do about this silent killer? It allows food producers to change the name of the infamous sweeter in order to trick consumers into thinking they are not eating high fructose corn syrup. That’s right, high fructose corn syrup now goes by a new, deceitful name – “Natural Sweetener” – designed to trick customers into making ill-informed choices that will impact on their health. Consumers are finally catching on to the fact that what we put in our mouths effects our waistline as well as our health. Since consumers have become much smarter and finally waking up to these realities, they are demanding healthier food choices. Every food company is smearing 100% natural on every box of anything regardless of whats inside the box. Now we have to know the new sneaky name to know whether or not we are consuming High Fructose Corn Syrup or not. Obviously the best way to avoid this mess is to buy from companies you really trust. Big food companies are hiding ingredients they know we really don’t want to consume in their products. This time it’s the presence of a new version of high fructose corn syrup. But this is not the innocuous fructose that has sweetened the fruits humans have eaten since time began. This is a questionable ingredient with many names that could be causing all sorts of health problems. The product is General Mills’ Vanilla Chex, an updated version of the Chex cereal sold in most conventional grocery and discount stores for many years. The front of the box clearly states that the product contains “no high fructose corn syrup” (HFCS), but turn it over to read the ingredient list and there it is – the new isolated fructose. Why is that a problem? According to the Corn Refiners Association (CRA), there’s been a sneaky name change. The term ‘fructose’ is now being used to denote a product that was previously known as HFCS-90, meaning it is 90 percent pure fructose. Compare this to what is termed ‘regular’ HFCS, which contains either 42 or 55 percent fructose, and you will know why General Mills is so eager to keep you in the dark. CRA explains: “A third product, HFCS-90, is sometimes used in natural and ‘light’ foods, where very little is needed to provide sweetness. Syrups with 90% fructose will not state high fructose corn syrup on the label [anymore], they will state ‘fructose’ or ‘fructose syrup’.” And the ...

Jon Meacham is the author of “The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels.” Tuesday was to be the day — in the morning, because everything was taken care of. The goodbyes had been said, the tears shed, the coffin handmade. In the spring of 2018, Dick Shannon, a former Silicon Valley engineer with untreatable cancer, took advantage of California’s “death with dignity” law to end his own life once all other medical possibilities had been exhausted. “My observation about the way people die, at least in America, is they . . . are not allowed the opportunity to be part of the process,” Shannon explained. “For my way of thinking, the part that bothers me just immensely is not being allowed to be part of that process. It’s my death. Go with what you believe, but don’t tell me what I have to do.” Discussing the ultimate decision with his doctor, Shannon remarked, “It’s hard to fathom. I go to sleep and that’s the end of it. I’ll never know anything different.” He paused, then said simply: “Okay.” When the day came, Shannon was ready. The end-of-life medical cocktail was mixed in a silver stainless steel cup, and he drank it in front of his loving and tearful family. “I’ve accepted the fact that I’m dying,” he’d said earlier. “There’s nothing I can do to stop it. Planning the final days of my life gives me a sense of participation and satisfaction.” As he prepared to slip away, he told his family, “Just know that I love you — each and every one of you.” America is becoming ever more like itself when it comes to death. From Walden Pond to Huck Finn’s lighting out for the territory, we’re a nation of individualists, shaped and suffused by self-reliance and a stubborn allegiance to the live-free-or-die motto of the Revolutionary era. With this twist: Baby boomers and their successor generations are insisting on being free to take control of death itself. Innovation, creativity and customization — the hallmarks of our time, an age in which we can run much of our lives from our mobile phones — are now transforming both how we die and the mechanics of remembrance that come afterward. The coming revolution in death — and Dick Shannon’s story — is laid out with uncommon wisdom in a powerful, new HBO documentary, “Alternate Endings,” which debuts Aug. 14. Only eight states and the District of Columbia have death-with-dignity laws, but three of those states — Hawaii, Maine and New Jersey — have put their statutes on the books within the past year. And 18 other states considered such laws in the 2019 legislative season. The movement has not attracted the same attention it once did; in the 1990s, Jack “Dr. Death” Kevorkian, the right-to-die advocate, drew ...
