@Taladad The first edibles I tried I never saw the labels. The second time I had edibles I'm not sure I read the label. They weren't homemade. The first time they came from California about 9 years ago, the second time they came from Colorado within the last year. The second and third times I was advised to partake cautiously because they could have a kick after about an hour. I did not find that to be so. I was very disappointed.

With all due respect, I know you are grieving and I know you feel like it will never get better, but it will. You have some work to do, I can't say I know what it is but if you are stuck it may be time to find help. Would your late wife have wanted you to spend the rest of your life grieving her? I think she would have wanted you to be able to move on and find happiness again. It doesn't mean you love her less, it means you are still alive and that is what living is. Forgive yourself for what ever it is that is holding you back. It is hard, it is more than hard, but it can be done. If I have hurt your feelings or said things out of line I apologize, but I don't want to see you stuck where you are. There is so much more to life out there and it is waiting for you. There is no timeline for grief, but it is also not supposed to be so intense forever. I'm not telling you to "get over it", but I am saying I hope you find peace.

So if you're feeling challenged the rest of the year, this time of year it is more of a challenge. Plus you know that the post holiday let down is coming.... and the bills, and more bad weather, and it just seems all you can do is hang on til Spring gets here.

When I was 14 my mom died. My youngest sister was 8. I remember Aunt Mickie was visiting, I think it was post funeral. Mickie was Japanese, tiny, but HUGE personality. Youngest sister played in the parents bedroom as she missed our mom like hell. Well, dad had an antique gun on the dresser and he caught sister touching it, and went apeshit on her. Dad was abusive anyway. Well tiny Mickie went apeshit on dad, asked him what kind of dumb ass left a gun where a child could reach it. She read him the riot act and was not the least bit quiet about it. Mickie became my hero that day. She already was but that day she was magnificent. And the gun was locked away and sister went back to her vigil in the bedroom. BTW, I am the queen of Google. I love a good search. Some emotions are so strong they do last forever.... or don't you believe in love?
HippieChick58 replies on Dec 21, 2018:
Love is not only an emotion, it is an action verb. As far as the emotion of love, I find it to be fleeting and ephemeral. Any exposure to American entertainment business will show you that "true love" doesn't seem to last. Now my grandparents were married for well over 50 years. I think they had a very deep abiding love that was the action verb. They chose most of the time to act in a deliberate loving manner towards each other. They chose to confirm their choice to love each other on a nearly daily basis. My favorite aunt and uncle were married for nearly 70 years, and it was the same thing, choosing the path of love daily. I believe love starts as an emotion, and morphs into the action verb which reinforces the emotion. But without that choice to perform the action, love is dead. If you had any exposure to Xian theology there are several types of love. Philios is brotherly love (as in the city of brotherly love - Philadelphia), also seen as friendship. The US needs omg so much more Philios. Eros is erotic love, the heady excitement of the beginning of a relationship. Storge is the bond between parents and child and siblings. I was the mom of teenaged girls a few years ago, and love was a decision more than once when I'd really have rather drowned the brat. I chose to love and have been well rewarded for it. Then there is Agape when I don't have and I expect most of us on this site don't, love for our supposed creator. So, no I don't believe the emotion of love is a lasting one, unless it is reinforced by the action verb.

How does texting work? I always thought that it was like an email. You can send it any time and if the other person is too busy, they don't answer back. Or, are you not supposed to send texts at odd times?
HippieChick58 replies on Dec 18, 2018:
A text will sit in your phone until you look at it and decide what to do. A phone call if not answered will go to voice mail. Texts are usually shorter than emails. With my kids they call if it is urgent and text if it can wait.

I do have a Roku, but still I don't watch TV often. The TV is in the basement family room. It is winter in Nebraska, and OMG my family room is cold. A few weeks ago I moved everything necessary upstairs, the TV is still downstairs as I have no idea where I might put it. So I am totally TV free for at least 2 weeks. I don't really miss it.
