HippieChick58 comments on Dec 12, 2018:
Actually we didn't when I was growing up. But years later in one of the places we lived I did have milk delivery. I don't remember now which place that was. I've only moved 23 times.

@creative51 I am thinking I may have one or two moves left. I've been in my current address for about the longest time since childhood. I was military, my ex was active duty military for the first half of our marriage, and then we moved several times post military. And then I moved several times post divorce. I'd move within the metro area for the right person. And I expect as I get older my current home may not be the right place for me. But for now I am content to stay put.

When I was in Germany, early 80s, I dated a German man and he wore a cross as a work of art. We did not communicate well, but I think he said he did not go to church he just liked the design. It was heavy gold and likely expensive. In Germany the parishioners pay a tax to support the church. Wouldn't that be a great idea in the US! That would shut down some of the mega churches.

Maybe once I thought a post was out of line. Also as you get to higher levels you will be eligible to be a greeter. You will be notified of new folks and asked to contact them with a welcome message. You could block all the folks that make political postings, again that would be a good many people. @RobertMartin The memes you posted have insulted a woman who has great integrity, and intelligence, and fought hard to win her election. You posted to a general forum where everyone can get a look at them. Yes, some people are rightly annoyed. If you don't want pushback, then post your garbage in groups where it will be appreciated. If you post in general forums be strong enough to withstand the feedback without whining like a petulant toddler.

We all have the right to express our opinions, and that is rather the point of this site, to encourage community and conversation.

My first thought: This sounds like a good idea; that's probably why I hate it. It smacks of happiness and gratitude. Ugh! How revolting. What I mean to say: Thanks for sharing; maybe I will do this next year. But I'll start with a cup, just so there's more instant gratification.
HippieChick58 replies on Dec 6, 2018:
I switched radio stations recently because my usual went to all Christmas format. So my alternative station has The John Tesh Radio Show. As I was driving home tonight John talked about how expressing gratitude makes us happier. IMHO, happiness is fleeting and ephemeral. I am more looking for less stress and more contentment. In my experience that is close to happiness. So by noting the good things that happen each day you will acknowledge gratitude and experience something very close to happiness. Use a cup, use a mug, use a tall glass, just do it. For me, my favorite color is pink, hence the pink post its that I used. I am going to restart my bowl tonight, and I am going to use many colors of post its. (side note: I've been organizing my house as I have time to, I'm unemployed. Somehow over the past many years I bought LOTS of post it notes. Now they are all in one place, in the same drawer and OMG it is like the damn things bred in captivity! So I'm the queen of post its, multi colored and decorated post its.)

Alvinsmama comments on Dec 2, 2018:
It's getting to be winter soon. Don't you know women stop shaving their legs during the cold weather. And, as far as anything else being shaved, I stopped that a while back, too. Just trim it once in a while. But, I do shave the pits year round.
HippieChick58 replies on Dec 2, 2018:
I haven't shaved anything in several years. Hair on the legs never gets longer than about a quarter inch, and it is so blonde and fine I can't see it without glasses. In the pits it might get 1/2", but again blonde and fine. I don't miss shaving at all! I lost my eyebrows because they turned gray and faded away. I do darken those in if I put makeup on. They are there, but you can't see them.
