If you assume the Big bang theory, the beginning would have been a singularity, then all matter and energy would have been expelled omnidirectional from the source, the edge of the universe would be the leading edge going into the void. The beginning of our universe was the end of the last one....
glennlab replies on Jul 20, 2022:
@azzow2 If you think of the big bang as being a nuclear explosion in space, there is always a leading edge as the blast expands. Here's the worldwide coal production over time. The USA and Western Europe have been steadily decreasing production. China and India have been steadily increasing production. Pretending that the actions of the USA are a significant cause of global warming is being deliberately naive:
glennlab replies on Jul 18, 2022:
The planet is literally burning up, but Manchin is talking about inflation, while ignoring the environment, medical care and infrastructure. Coal, is only one small piece of the package. We are not at a point where we can be fully free of fossil fuels, but we are at a point we can start replacing many of them. It is short sighted people that have allowed the situation to get this bad, if Carter's plan had not been scrapped by Reagan, we would be fossil fuel free by now.

It has been defined and redefined in every windfall profits tax law. It is roughly defined as profiteering, that is increasing prices above your historical rates benefiting from outside actions that you did not cause. Examples are after a natural disaster or during a war period raising rates to make higher profits. Almost every state has anti profiteering laws but only the feds can impose a penalty nationally.

I've never ate it, when I eat chicken it's either Southern (KFC) or Mexican (El Pollo Loco). I refuse white supremacist chicken.
glennlab replies on Jul 14, 2022:
I've never eaten it either, there are plenty of other choices without supporting someone that thinks some of my friends don't deserve human rights.
Strange how people never think about their prejudices until they are pointed out.

Great movie with great lines. "We're on a mission from god." And later, "I hate Illinois Nazis." And so many more.

In two years, the convention will be in El Paso. Getting elected to be a delegate is normally not a problem. The only time I had problem was Obama's first election, because we had so many new people involved and I used my pull to get my son a delegate slot and took an alternate slot. I still ended up as a delegate since so many people didn't go. El Paso will be much easier to get a delegate slot since a lot of people won't want to make the trip. https://www.ktsm.com/local/el-paso-news/el-paso-to-host-texas-democratic-convention/

The general sessions and even the caucuses are pretty boring, most of the interesting things that get started are at the receptions and side meetings. These are where the listening tours take place. Operatives simply go from one small group to another hearing what people are talking about and hearing some great ideas and a lot of bad ones, then reporting back to the candidates. The candidates also make their rounds, so we all get a chance for our few minutes of interaction

All our candidates have already been elected, we will vote to certify the ballot and to elect party officials. We started over 10 years ago electing more progressive officials in the party, we just recently elected some to the SDEC to fill out the term until Sunday, then the new officers take office, but incumbents have a leg up so they will probably continue on. We have a good slate of candidates, it will just be a matter of getting the vote out

With this kind of heat, I've got to stay away from alcohol. I've checked out the reception venues, and they have both inside and outside areas. Some years I carry frozen water bottles, but most areas will have a refreshment area sponsored by the various campaigns. I'm still trying to decide on whether to take the train to the convention, since there is no mass transit to the receptions.
