glennlab replies on Mar 26, 2020:
@dalefvictor Not with normal contact, similar to lead crystal decanters, over a long period of time with leaching. You have to remember that for centuries people ingested arsenic on a regular basis to ward off poisoning with arsenic. It would take a massive amount to poison a person with a high tolerence. The roman's used lead to line their water pipes to keep them from leaking. Chrome is a metalic poison. Almost all heavy metals are poisonous given the proper quantities and ingress into the body.
So frustrated this morning.

You want him to invoke the War Powers Act.. it entails much more than just being able to order companies to produce necessary goods. Things like this Act give the President even more distance between himself and the necessity for Congress to control measures of authority. Careful what you wish for.

@Petter The presidential and congressional elections are constitutionally mandated to be held on a date certain in November, there is no provision to delay or cancel them. That may not stop him from trying.

You are looking at a bed lasting from 10-20 years, so a little work early and top dressing each year will give you good crops. They store the food for next spring's growth in their tuber roots, so feeding from the time they go to fern until Sept. is important. Only backfill as the fern grows so that there are always leaves above the soil level.

The biggest problem is that most of the deals are made when minority candidate delegates get together and are then able to convince a few others to go along in exchange for some concession. We have made some progress in the past 30 years, but it has been because of deals made during presidential convention years.

Damn right it's our money....so why didn't Nancy & the Dems push this?
glennlab replies on Mar 20, 2020:
The Dems proposed $1000 to every adult, the republicans proposed $1200 to every adult making over $40,000 and decreasing below that amount to $600 for the poorest.

A few Spring images.
glennlab comments on Mar 20, 2020:
Yesterday, there were 3 bluebonnets blooming in the wildflower patch across the street, today, they have erupted. My bluebells which normally bloom a few weeks before the bluebonnets just started blooming.
glennlab replies on Mar 20, 2020:
@MissKathleen I try to find the bright spot and accept the things out of my control. I have the car loaded up to go fishing this weekend. There should be some wonderful roadside blooms out there. So fishing pole, camera, lunch, and I might even bring bait.
I cleaned out my raised asparagus bed today.
glennlab comments on Mar 19, 2020:
How much do you have planted? Do you know the variety?
glennlab replies on Mar 19, 2020:
@Lorajay If you heavy water in the spring when they first start sprouting. Harvest each time they come up until they are about the thickness of a pencil. At that point let them go to fern, fertilize monthly until first frost and let it die back, then trim to the ground,. If it's a dedicated asparagus bed, I would plant some additional crowns. Dig down to about the outside ground level and reserve the dirt. Place the crown at the bottom of the hole, as the fern grows up fill the hole. Keep well watered. 2nd year these should increase your yield significantly. A bed that size should give you enough spears to enjoy every day for the growing season, maybe even two seasons.

How long a hike is it? If they ever open up Las Vegas again, I may drive the southern route either coming or going.

@dede18, @glennlab, @RussRAB, @tinkercreek, @MarkWD # 7 and 8 is one of my favourites. It looks original with great texture. Most day lilies including #7 and 8 came from (https://harbourbreezes.ca/). glennlab replies on Mar 19, 2020:
I used to love japanese Iris, but I had a problem in that they almost always had to be staked to keep the blooms from falling over.

glennlab replies on Mar 19, 2020:
@St-Sinner So you met a few of the 5% and that means that all them stayed home, well I was a Bernie delegate and I voted for Clinton. I have the research to prove I am right, you have anecdotal evidence to prove your lie.

glennlab replies on Mar 19, 2020:
@St-Sinner Stop spreading the lie that Bernie voters stayed home 90-95% of people that voted for Bernie in the primary voted for Hillary in November. What cost her the election was a multitude of reasons, Voter supression over a million primarily democratic voters removed from the rolls in states that she only lost by 80,000. Red shift, the difference between exit polls and voter count. Out right election fraud by the republican party. $4 billion in free political coverage by the networks for trump, Russian interference, fake facebook accounts trolling democrats, I could go on for a while, but you need to stop the bullshit that she lost because Bernie voters stayed home or voted for Jill Stien.
