Man with Corona Virus seeks woman with Lyme Disease
Robecology comments on Feb 27, 2020:
BTW; In a serious note; Should we be concerned about the growing virulence and contagion of diseases? Of course. Should we also trust the health organizations and medical pros that are "in the field" with these diseases to be doing good things to control them? Of Course!! Here's a synopsis for those who are upset that I'm "joking" about serious diseases; Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can infect humans or animals . Sometimes an animal coronavirus can change so that it can infect people and become a human coronavirus. There are seven known types of human coronaviruses. Four types (229E, NL63, OC43, and KHU1) are common and cause mild to moderate respiratory infections, like the common cold. Yes....the common cold is in the CoronaVirus group. Two types, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), can cause severe respiratory infections. The seventh type (2019-nCoV) is a new coronavirus recently discovered in China. Public health officials are trying to learn more about this new virus and the infection it causes. This one has a mortality rate between 2 and 6%...which is pretty high for "colds". ...and mutations happen quickly...so it could strengthen. SO
💭 What does it mean to you to be a free thinker?
Robecology comments on Feb 27, 2020:
Good question! It's both a noun and an adjective; not to mention the name of a famous group and magazine! Historically to be a "free-thinker" (adjective) implied you were unencumbered by "religion"...you were "free to think" about creation, gods or no gods, an afterlife or not...etc. To be in the "Free Thnker/Freethought" society/group was to imply that you just weren't religious. It was a safer "adjective" and or "noun" (group name) to be in - in the very religiously dominated past. Scientists - those demanding evidence, proof, and a process of studying things...quickly adhered to the strategy. It was the name given to the organization or group of Agnostics and Atheists in England nearly 140 years ago. It's also a title to the longest continually running publication...ever....in the whole world...The FreeThinker. The Freethinker was a British secular humanist magazine, founded by G.W. Foote in 1881. One of the world's oldest surviving freethought publications, it moved online-only in 2014. It has always taken an unapologetically atheist, anti-religious stance. First issue: 1 May 1881 Final issue: April 2014 (print) The website is called Patheos.com...here's the link; https://www.patheos.com/blogs/thefreethinker/ And here's the Wikipedia info page; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Freethinker_(journal)

Robecology comments on Feb 26, 2020:
I feel for you....I've been banned a lot lately - not here - but on FB...for posting what I thought was totally fact-checked, provable, non-Spam info. I'm guessing that I (and you) have people who resent what I/you post - So S(he) falsely reports that my/your posts "go against community standards"... Both Social media sites (FB and A.com) allow for "anonymous' reporting.... so anyone who's offended by you or what you say can lie and make up stuff - Thus; you're reported and banned. They can keep on doing it because they were allegedly "offended". That's just the way it works. So I suggest you lighten your tone. Reword your posts to be more fact based... .less socially "challenging"... and your posts will more likely remain unchallenged. Or just quit posting? I won't.

@Sassygirl3869 and @ToolGuy; I hope you get the gist of Tool guy's "tongue in cheek" remark. And I concur; When any group "blocks or bans" those who are not "true _____" (fill in the blank). then you're admitting that you're afraid of debate, afraid of those with opinions who differ from yours. I don't think that's wise. Don't block the "non leftist" (and I give this advice to folks on "Rigtists" sites as well). Unless you're afraid they're right...and might win an argument with you. Ban if they're rude. Ban if they name-call. Ban if they make obviously false/unfounded comments and call them "facts" without backing it up. Remember; we're "Agnostic" on most subjects...not just religion and/or politics. What's the state that has the slogan "Show Me"? I bet a lot of Agnostics live there!

Robecology comments on Feb 24, 2020:
When you're up before dawn for 45 years (of teaching) you either become a "morning" person or you end up finding another career that doesn't require you to be at work at 7 AM or so. That's the plight of most schools...start early....end early. Not your "9 to 5" schedule at all. So 8 years after I had retired (in 2012) I'm still an up before dawn person.
In my household, I do most of the cooking.

Robecology comments on Feb 23, 2020:
Global warming is at an unprecedented pace...not seen for hundreds of thousands of years according to ice-core records. Warmer air = warmer seas = expanded seas (anything heated expands) = melting ice = sea level rise...and the graph isn't a straight line...it's a parabolic curve. That means every day our temp rise/sea level rise not only increases...but it's rate of increase increases. Most beaches world wide can be gone in as short as a few decades if we don't act soon. Greta was right. We're in deep trouble. Here's a simple video - with Elon Musk...the CEO of Tesla, saying "This is the dumbest experiment (keep pushing fossil fuels) in the history of mankind." Great cinematography! But I'm saddened to see such a beautiful wide beach. It's future is in doubt. The wider the beach...the more slowly the evolution of sea level change in that area. Rocky shores show relatively "fresh" (shorter) evolution of declining seas - or even encroaching (sea level gaining) shorelines. With the rapid global warming and unprecedented (in recent geologic history) rising in sea levels, we will see a disappearance of many of these beaches. http://explorebeaches.msi.ucsb.edu/effects-climate-change

We're a product of millions of positive "mutations" that allowed us to have all the features we have...but for every one positive mutation there's been millions of negative ones. - cancer, cells having a limited number of reproductions comes to mind - that cause an individual to not survive. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2871823/ "People who understand evolution know that it has no 'goal', because as Martin Simons correctly points out, the concept of having a goal implies agency, intelligence and desire. Robecology comments on Feb 20, 2020:
Chutney is basically a fruity condiment; if well made it can be left on the table, unrefrigerated. It's tart (the strong acidity is what allows it to go unrefrigerated) and the chunks are usually cooked to a very palatable consistency. Try some commercially available chutneys first. Disagree. If he puts his weight behind one candidate; the others will resent it. He's wise to wait until the convention. He'll back whoever's nominated...and you can bet he'll be backing whomever very strongly.
The blocking process seems to be wrecking havoc, and it is because it is a mutual self destruct.
Robecology comments on Feb 20, 2020:
I like the blocking options on A.com. You can chose any length of time to block anyone being offensiv. I don't follow your "mutual self destruct" comment....I'm happy the argumentative, the hostile and the profane are blockable. - - - - - - - - - - FB has a lot of good blocking options - but one. BEWARE... the Conservative/pro-Trump FB patrol is reporting anything that offends them...and the FB judges (I call them Gestapo) believes their evaluations. It's a blocking technique which I think is being worked by the pro-Trump foreign FB team. Let me explain; I noticed an obviously false comment on FB (Bloomberg takes national lead) and i not only commented publicly that this was false; I included a link to show how he was doing ( via RealClearPolitics.com) . A few minutes later I was informed that I was blocked from posting to ANY groups for 72 hours (3 days) because my post (explaining the falsehood) had been reported as "against community standards". FB is usually considerate with these....i've been able to explain my posts and get them unblocked... but not lately. Could it be Zuckerberg's association with Trump? My post wasn't fake news. It wasn't obscene. It didn't go against community standards. What I now know I must do is not be so quick to comment publicly that a post is false. I need to report directly to the FB Gestapo whose blind obedience possibly would have blocked them.

This coming election should be a turning point; if the majority of Americans pull off a democratic win - we'll see a swing back to environmental responsibility. If not...then greed will rule...and we'll see a lot worse environmental disasters before we finally act.

Robecology comments on Feb 20, 2020:
I've changed teaching jobs too often...but each time ended up with an interesting - if not challenging - experience. I think I've taught in 9 or 10 different schools before I ended up in South Dade county - teaching at SDHS for 32 years...retiring from there. Wow....regrets? I have had a few...but the experiences....wouldn't change a thing.... I'm glad I stuck with teaching. Decent retirement benefits in Florida (shhhh...)

Meh....Bill remains a background/undependable. spokesperson for science. He's made some great classroom videos.... ...in fact I'm sorry he didn't touch upon it in this video...but he's shown, repeatedly and well, how CO2 absorbs and holds heat well... He's basically shown us the science of Global warming...and that wasn't even mentioned in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtW2rrLHs08

We've all made mistakes. To look back on them with a "coulda-woulda-shoulda attitude is a waste of time and energy, in my book. BE HERE NOW is my credo. I inspired 3 divorces. I've lost touch with brothers and good friends. But they had their faults, as well. I'm glad I tried as often as I did to "make marriage/friendship/brotherhood work... and I never blame an "ex" - I always say it was 50% me...50% them. Only one stayed in touch...the mother of my only son. Glad for that.

SCORE ONE FOR AGNOSTICS! - - - - - - - - - - - After more than 16,000 replies, the answer was an overwhelming “no,” which received 95.8% of the vote. In response, the group accused “atheists and Satanists” of “religious persecution” for voting in the poll. Congress is overwhelmingly Christian, far out of proportion with the people they represent. According to a Pew survey last year, the Senate and House are nearly 90% Christian, compared with 65% of America as a whole. One in four Americans now considers themselves atheist, agnostic or “nothing in particular,”

Happy Wednesday! Puberty! How many of you have a distinct memory if it?
Robecology comments on Feb 19, 2020:
I've done some research on this on my blog page. (Becoming Human). I honestly feel that it's at that point in our lives... the farthest we can think back - to our earliest memories - even pre-puberty (pubescence?) of an early home, a ride on mom/dad's shoulders, a weird dream in our youth....THAT's when we became human. Before that we are growing toward it...but not there yet. I became human around aged 4. I can recall sitting on a bare floor in a new home in Queens Village NYC. I can recall asking my mother "what happens when you die"? I recall riding on my dad's shoulders. I recall my mom's "onion, lettuce, cream cheese and tomato" sandwiches...all around that age. pre-kindergarten. And puberty? Discovering those first "pubic hairs"....the changing voice....the unplanned erections....yep....I recall them all too well...

Robecology comments on Feb 18, 2020:
Here's the thing. Trump and his minions are eating our confusion up and laughing hard at all the "in-fighting" going on to produce a candidate. ...and if we don't unite fast, and firm...Trump will not only have his 4 more years....he'll be immune from prosecution (for all the financial BS he was being charged with...that has an "expiration date of 2022). Happy Tuesday! How many of you are or have been married?
Robecology comments on Feb 18, 2020:
I have been married 4 times. The first one I lost - very young - to breast cancer > brain cancer. It was hell on earth dealing with it...but it taught me some lessons. The second one lasted over a decade - and I ended up being "single dad" while mom "split" for greener pastures. The third was a marriage of convenience....her home was "trashed" by hurricane Andrew....she stayed with me...we thought it would work...it didn't. The fourth...well...she warned me...."let's not get married" she said. "No need" she said. "You were right" I say now....

Tit size seems to have little to do with sensuality. The big and little both like polite touching, caressing, sucking...etc. It's been my experience that few to none like them handled "aggressively".
Too lazy to check if this is true, but I tend to believe it.

Having worked as a teacher in a prison...teaching science....I can attest to the validity of this. I was astonished at the many #religulous guys there.... But the ministers in prisons do have a "captive" audience...and they do talk about "salvation" a lot... so I get it...but I do feel sorry for them.
